Hey Guys, i thnk this is the right place...
Basicaly, the phone line in my house is connected to the broadband on the main PC. The other half of the cordless phone duo is on the kitchen...
I have wireless internet set up on my laptop, but want to have a phone line upstairs in my room, but can't be bothered to run another line through...
Is it possible to set it up to the laptop as its connected to the same phone line via wireless internet?

phone line to call people...
Basically, so in my bedroom, I will have internet as i do now via wireless broadband, and would like like a landline phone to call people.
The landline would be the same as what is connected to the broadband, but i dont want to have a phone line running from the main pc to my bedroom if you get my drift

yeah buy a cordless phone and put it in ur room lol., Weve got one cordless phone set up downstairs that the base unit is pluged into the phone socket, Then all the other cordless phones around the house just have a base unit with a power suply to charge off, They dont each need a phone socket too

Might be easier to buy new phones. You normally get a phone with a base station which plugs into your phone line. In your case this would sit downstairs next to the pc.
And you generally get 1 or 2 or even 3 extra cordless phones which come with their own charging docks.
So you would plug the charging dock into a regular socket into your room & hey presto, a landline in your room!
As far as what you described in the top post, i cant understand what you mean by it but in order to have a phone socket it your room you would either need to
1. Take a fresh cable from the back of your master socket and run it through the walls up to your room. Assuming you have aDSL you will then need to put an aDSL splitter on the end of it to plug the phone into.
2. Where your phone downstairs currently plugs in you need to put a spltter on that BETWEEN the aDSL splitter (assuming you have aDSL again ;)) and the phone. The plug your phone into the new splitter and run a cable from the new splitter up to your room where you can plug a phone straight in.
Go Cordless :y:
P.S. If you were to just buy another cordless phone to plug in in your room, as long is it doesnt have an answering service built into it it should work no probs. Its master base station will still need to be plugged into the socket downstairs though & you will need just a charging dock and extra handset in your room, so its probably easier to just go for a whole new kit. m sure ur 'rents wont mind :P
