Hey everyone, pretty new here.

Just bought a VTS and its suddenly developed this sort of bad vibrating/knocking sort of noise as i go round some corners to the left, it also does it when i put the car in reverse and move backwards whilst turning the steering wheel to the left, it also sometimes does it without turning the steering wheel whilst in reverse.

Is this a common problem? Any idea as to what it could be? I really hope it is nothing to do with my gearbox or clutch!

All suggestions welcome....many thanks.

Don't know for deffo, but sounds like a CV joint is it's when you're turning? Pretty sure there's basic ways to test for this....
In reverse you are changing the direction the force is acting, so a damaged/loose component would maybe act differently.

Yeh i sort of thought it could of been but wasnt all that sure, i had a renault clio as my previous car and the CV joint went on that too but it sounded more like an echo, i dont know if it is different on the saxo's also when i changed gear in the clio because the CV joint was knackered it made an echo when i did that too. It doesnt on the saxo thats all......maybe because it on its way out? where as the clio one was totally knackered and crushed?

I also understand what you mean about it doing it in reverse as the bearings are doing the reverse of what they usually do IE going forwards instead of backwards.

Is this a common fault? I know it is just wear and tear too tbh....

Thanks again.

Oh and it also makes the noise sometimes just randomly and when coming off the accelerator and you notice the small sort of judder as you take your foot of the accelerator at lower speeds if you know what i mean? It does it then too, sometimes it seems the noise is coming from the centre at the front sometimes it seems its coming from the drivers side front wheel its hard to pinpoint to be honest.

Any more ideas?

Yeh I had the same problem but mine use to also do it when i use to dip the clutch the noise is also when you press on the accelerator when driving and also when you take your foot of the accelerator, my mechanic said it was the CV joint had that changed and the noise is gone now yours ir probz most likely the CV joint aswel
