I currently have ZoneAlarm, the free home version. I think its pretty good, but I've been using it for years and was thinking that there's probably better, more competent firewalls available by free download.

Whats everyone else got? Is ZoneAlarm as good as anything else which is free?

I've tried just about all of them and for software firewalls ZoneAlarm is streets ahead of the others. It's really worth getting the full version as it's such a great piece of software.
Perfect security scans and really user friendly, can't ask for much more and hey, if it 'ain't broke... ;)

Yeah def agree ZoneAlarm is by far the best. Never let me down as i have the full version. Norton is a pain in the arse as i couldnt get my wireless networ to work with it.

zone alarms good, i used to use symantci gear (norton anti virus etc) but they slow the hell out your pc, i just use windows firewall and make sure keep windows updating, and avg free anti virus is good. doesnt slow my pc at all!

I've heard bad things about ZoneAlarm.. erm..

Oh well, I use windows firewall most free firewalls will not protect to if anything major happens anyway, also have a firewall in the router which is a hardware one which are very good.. :P

Windows XP built in firewall is sufficent if you update Windows regularly. I have tested loads of firewalls and have found zonealarm to be the best.

To be honest if you don't go surfing with IE and don't go on any crappy sites or click fake paypal links you shouldn't worry about having one..

But thats just my opinion..
