No garage round my way will touch the torsion bar, they all told me to go see this other guy at Safe and Sound. So ive just been, and he told me:

He wont fit my 50mm springs because i will have no travel left in my suspension and i could damage the car, so he wont put his name to a dodgy job.

He only wants to go 35mm on the saxo.

He does the torsion bar by splines.

But only charges £70-£80 even if its seized.

Supposedly hes been doing them for years now, and every garage ive been to recommend him. He said he'd fit them if i supplied shorter shocks for about double that ^^.

I dont want to lower by splines and i dont really wanna fork out for shorter shocks. Anyone know any places in glasgow that will do it? Sean...help???

Road trip to GMC is an option, not overly far away but might be pricey.

Any idea why the guy only wanted to go 35mm and not the 45-50mm?
I thought it was ok to go down that on standard shocks??

you can lower 50mm on standard shocks but it will be a bit harsh and you'll hit the bumpstops a bit more often, he was probably just being cautious. and by doing it by splines he has no way of measuring 50mm.

Any idea where i can get just shocks? dont want to spend loads, just get a cheap kit like spax, but i dont want the springs. I know GMC do billies but theyre a bit dear lol.

Yeah thats what I thought was funny, he didnt wanna put his name to a bad job, but he does it by splines, so theyre all bad jobs?? lol
