This probably isn't the best thread so soon after Smilebehappy's salesmen!!!! thread, but here goes.........

Been an apprentice mechanic for 3 and a half years and after my papers came through, i decided it was a better idea to pursue bigger and better things! So after months of trying I've finally got a job as a car salesman!!!!

You might be thinking WTF!!!!! Who choses a job like that!!! But my dad was a car salesman most his life and i love cars so ive always been interested in it!

Basically this means, with commission etc on top of the basic wage (already 200 more than i currently earn) I'm gonna be out of my financial strife sooner than anticipated.

So there u got, a bit of an ASW thread, but just thought i'd share :)

It is such a shame that the job is so poorly paid. You go do five years training and then most garages want to pay peanuts to there mechanics. Labour rates at garages are so high but the lads and lasses only get a small amount of it.WHY?????
Well done anyway, at least now you will have a better working knolage of cars and be a better salesman.

My sentiments exactly, i've been toying with cars ever since i can remember (thanks to my dad lol) and i could feel myself building a hatred for the trade, Staying back to get jobs done, etc etc, just the amount of pressure you have to deal with in a garage and no incentive when your a laddie i just thought feck it, i've got mates in the trade, i could get a job if i need one, i might as well try something else :)

Funnily enouigh, the dealership i applied at, i had given up on getting the job and then i got a call today asking if i still wanted the job and that was that :panic: <-------DANCE

so yeah, long hours etc but it'll be an experience for me really and i'll learn more, while maintainig the perks of being a mechanic, such as having a ramp to work on your car, trade discounts etc etc. Chufffed to bits :D
