Hey guys.
Well payday is here and I've decided I am going to treat myself.
I want to get a playstation in my car, or a dvd player in the back and hook up some visor screens.
I have no idea how to do this, or where to start.
A point in the good direction would be great, or if anyone is selling anything? Thanks!:drink:

you will need a 12 volt inverter
av lead from playstatiot to 3 plugs (yellow, red and white)
and the visor screens :y:
you wont need a dvd player if your putting a PS2 in the car too :)

my inverter was about 79.99 as it was a proper hardwire one with the plug for ps2, the one liste is the house plug type (you can plug a few things in so its probablies better :y: )

you may need splitters too as the screens will have to go into the ps2
i put mine under the passenger seat, just be careful if people get in the car as they may knock it :)

If possible then it's worth getting a proper 12v powersupply for the PS2. You're wasting a lot of power by changing 12v DC -> 240V AC -> 8v DC. Inverters get extremely hot.

is worth getting the proper lead for the ps2 but it does cost a lot more

Get the same power inverter as pred had as it is a digital inverter. the one in the link may be cheap but you will get interferance through the sound on the ps2. i have fitted loads and the digital inverters are the only ones that worked for me.

OK Thanks a lot for all your replys guys.
I am only buying the cables i need to wire up the ps2 for it to turn on for now.
I will be buying the screens next month as I have to save for other stuff this month.
Slowly but surely hey! :drink:
I think i'll buy the £59.99 one as the other one looks MAHUSIVE :P
Also is the £59.99 one hard to wire, any tutorials or anything, thanks!:y:

and it only needs a 5 amp fuse.

mate its 2 wires the red goes to a switched ignition supply via a 5 amp fuse and then earth the black wire job done.
Predator_R32
1st March 2007, 20:39
yeah red to switched live on the headunit and black to earth simple as that :y:

I know this sounds REALLY noobish.
Where exactly would i wire it to "a switched ignition supply"
Would the battery do the job with a 5 amp in line fuse?
Because I already have my Active sub wired to the battery.
Cheers!

I've just got one more question, wont this be really obvious to theives as there will be wires going to my visors. Or can they easily unplug and take the visors out when you leave your car?
cheers again lads quality!

Run the wires up the A pillars, through the ceiling and then punch a hole to take it through to the visors.

the red wire on the headunit is the swiched live mate just use some block connectors and wire it into them i didnt bother with a fuse really and you can switch it off by the back of the playstation plus with it being swiched live it goes off when you switch off ignition/headunit

yeah dirt cheap but once customs get it they may open it and charge you import taxes etc and could mount up to 200 quid, i bought a clarion unit from america and got stung 180 for taxes
i cant see it being a small package either so its bound to be opened :)
