Fancied having a bit of a fanny about again with my car and mirrors were the next thing that came to mind.
After having a good look round the best alternative for Saxo mirrors appeared to be the Peugeot 307 ones.
They're pretty much identical in size, but have a little fresher look about them. The baseplate however wont fit a Saxo
So off i went to track down some standard Saxo mirrors where id dismantle them and use the baseplate, hack up the 307 ones a little and see what happens.
Progress so far:
A Pug 307 mirror

Carefully cut the 307 baseplate down to the slim section, remove the Saxo mirror from its baseplate, then shave 5mm of that back around the edge

Mirrors compared, angle not quite matching but you can see how the dimensions compare

Thats what i was thinking, can anyone pull a beauty out the bag and suggest any?
Paul the baseplate that ive attached is from standard Saxo mirrors so it will fit to the car :)

Not being funny but they look alot like the saxo mirrors so would it not have been easier to just smooth the standard 1s?

matt - that base plate won't fit to the car, the threaded parts for the bolts have been snapped off. (i think)

Yates

Not sure about this idea Matt. Had it in my head they looked different to that! How are you doing the adjuster's? do they fit into the saxo holder inside?

Try get some eleccy ones like the GTO & such has so that when u turn the motor off they fold themselves inwards. That would be braggable :P

I like to be a bit more individual, Saxo ones dont really do it for me, theyre nice, but im not afraid to do something new.
Not keen on 106 ones either, theyre a bit dull.

I may have found another alternative :) Golf Mk5 mirrors. I just need to see some on the flesh and compare sizes

LOve the ideas!! Stick with the 307 ones. I like it them because most people wouldn't realise that they'd been changed. Its a fantastic subtle modification. Nice attention to detail.
