Right last friday I got a tad smashed, and nocked a beer down the back of my mates computer, turned the plug off and passed out.

Woke up and it was the tv plug I turned off, whoops

Anyway I left it and my mate goes I will check the plug fuse.

Just spoke to him about going out this weekend again lol and he said this-

"next time u come to mine can u look at my pc 4 me"
"it turns on but no picture comes on the sreen and the fan gives goes mad"

Now.. I work in it support and study pc's at college and really should know whats wrong with it..

So any advice before I look at it this weekend?

Hes cool about it and laid back lol but I think I owe him a new pc..

PC NERDS I NEED YOU :drink: :y:

The only chance you have is to let it dry out totally and hope for the best. If one of the caps' on the motherboard has gone you've had it. Most electrical devices are fine after they are bone dry and left for a few days however i don't like your chances to be honest. Sorry...

Where abouts got wet? the plug of the actual computer?

as MTR said, if you got it on the motherboard then you've likely to of fried it.

Make sure its dry, and check the plugs, you might have knocked out the monitor plug, as for the fan.. it could be just the fan being broken

He got onboard graphics or a third party card?

If they are onboard a third party card might solve your problems if it comes to having to replace the pc for him :P

Was thinking that... or if that fails I will just have the old pc off him and buy him a new one, flog the old one on ebay as not tested or something lol

Its a pretty nice spec HP so it should be a 3rd party card but hes not computer savvy at all.. full of viruses, he only used it for porn tbh

Mine is a Brand New HP Pc and that came with a built on Graphics Card. To be honest it depends on how much beer got into the system. If it went into one of the holes in the back and onto the motherboard, you may have fried it.

A fried motherboard may even still spin the processor fan but nothing will come up on the screen. The best was to test it to stick a working graphics card in and turn it on. If the processor fan spins but nothing comes on the monitor then the motherboard might be naffed or possibly the RAM.
