Cable seems fine, i popped the bonnet, gave it a pull and it revved nicley
if i push the pedal it sounds gritty underneath?
How can I check for a cable jam?

its broken
really? judging by the title "sh*ty f*cking peice of w*nk car" i'd never of guessed lol :p
as for your problem, sounds like it could be a bit of friction in the throttle linkage system have you tryed spraying it with WD40 and working it back and forth??!

Cables tend to frey where they go through the bulk head (90 deg bend), and if they start to go, best to change them.
Sounds like it has started to frey and jammed when you pressed the throttle.
Dealers do a kit which is a rip off at, I think, £40.

Id say throttle cable too, happened on mine a few months ago.
For a throttle cable which you can easily get at car user etc get it from them at trade price of about £15-£20 rather than paying over the odds at the dealer

Its a case of needing my car for work on friday though, so it needs to be fixed tommorow, if not im paying for taxis lol!
Will speak to my mate at citreon and see the scrappy..
Anything less than 100 notes fitted is not bad tbh
i would defo say it the cable, but it maybe sticking around the clip next to the throttle bdy. my vts did this a few months ago, the pedal never dropped tho, but the revs stayed high for ages.. just gave it a small wd40 spray and worked it for a while. never happened since.
if the pedal has dropped i would defo say it a problem with the cable.
this happened in my escort rs turbo once lol
was joining the a1 and planted my foot down, the pedal hit the floor but the engine was ticking over, i nearly got wiped out by an artic, wasnt to hard to sort out, just a bit fiddly. have a look in the haynes manual, it will tell you how to sort it there matey :)
would probs take you an hour to fix, im sure thats all it took in the rs turbo.

Right the garage is going to look at it for me at 12, and tell me what the problem is.
He said he cant do it today but at least hes going to look at it and tell me for sure.
This way I can ring citroen and get the part and try and find a garage thats not booked up!
