Water Temp Gauge Not Working

Hi guys my water temp on my dashboard no longer works, it will either just sit at the bottom with no reading or just start waving at me with the needle going all the way to the top and back down again and sometimes the needle just sits at the top for a few seconds and then drops again, and sometimes it appears to give a correct reading then after a few seconds it will start waving again. I have checked the two sensor / readers in the engine block but they seem ok ie all connected etc, I have had one suggestion so far that I need to replace the sensor which sits under the air intake box, any other suggestions?

no its on the head near the thermostate

blue for 98bhp

green iirc for 90bhp

cheers guys, it's also blue for the vts, I will have to try and replace this and see what happens.

I found that there are two sensors one on the rad and another under the air intake on the engine block
