I love how people call lorry drivers.. You actually wanna try and drive a 44ft truck, i dont think alot of you realise just what we have to put up with, never mind you lot... heard the saying dont knock it until youve tried it.. well i suggest you go do that before you start calling us tbh
And theres always two sides to every story, and he aint actually described whats actually happend anyway..

Yep, i do. You drive up and down the single carriageways, dual carriageways, motorways etc slowing up traffic and preventing it from free flowing...then if someone is driving slow in the inside lane you drive right up their ar*e, seemingly unaware of the massive momentum you're carrying.
Does that sound about right? ;)
Really sorry to hear about your car though - undoubtedly a write off i'm afraid!

What did you have for breakfast mate? Also how are the clothes your wearing? Without lorry drivers you wouldnt have any of those things, its about time the stupid public realise what those guys have to put up with to keep this country going! Accidents happen, and nobody is hurt but most of the time it is the general public that cause accidents like this to happen because they dont give HGV's the room they need to manoeuvre. Its a shame that insurance premiums for the hardworking freight companies are going up because the law will alway side with the normal motorist! Sorry for the rant but its bullshit that hardworking people in wagons get shit for driving slowly on the motorways etc, the speed limiter on the tractor unit is for your safety and fuel efficiency!

Totally irrelevant. Put the freight on trains (as was suggested by Barbara Castle in the 70's)...hey presto - no lorry drivers falling asleep and causing accidents, no issue with them jamming roads...
Maybe the 'stupid' (to coin your terminology) government should push for this.

Moving freight by train has almost died out due to how costly it is, When Barbara Castle suggested that in the 70's the government was subsidising the railways as wagons were moving goods around cheaper. Even if goods were moved by train you will still get trucks being used to move goods to there final destinations.

The government still does subsidise the railways. That aside, it's an economies of scale issue: if more freight was put onto trains and the logistics better organised, the cost would plummet. Yes, goods would have to be delivered a few miles to their final destination. Money could be saved in reduced road repair, reduced congestion and a reduction in accidents...
In fact, if i'm not mistaken, the reason her plans fell through was due to (the bain of all corporate life) the Trade Union movement and their absurd left-wingism...
Simple really ;)

For bulk goods to one location and groupage to an RDC yeah use trains. It all depends on the goods needing to be transported, it just hacks me off when car drivers forget that the motorways werent built for cars they were built for wagons.
