how long to bed brakes in???

at work i advise no hard braking for 300 - 400 miles

Although other brands may be diffrent

depends on what brakes you have fitted but iam sure they will be about the same,

Been told you can bed them in in 20mins by doing it a certain way, not sure if its true though, i tried it on my old vtr....

Cat amongst the pigeons, Im not saying this is gospel, so try it at your peril. But ive never had problems

Fit the discs, degreasing them to get rid of the coating they have from factory. Take the car out, and get up to 60 or so, and brake pretty hard down to about 15-20mph and keep doing that quite a few times. I normally do a few blasts up and down the local bypass doing that, and they seem fine.

Its important that you dont brake to a full stop when doing this, well, at least not braking to a full stop then holding the brakes on.

sounds intresting, i just had new pads and discs, i think ill bed em in like i normaly do :S 200miles :)

I bed them in one evening.

At about 60-70 mph I brake firmly slowing down to about 5 -10 mph, never coming to a stop accellerate back up to speed and repeat 6-7 times. Keeping moving reduces the chance of getting pad deposits stuck to the disc face.

Gentle braking or dragging of the brakes results in glazed pads.

After the bedding in I take it for a decent run up the duel carriageway without braking to cool them down nicely.

Race pads I start with a higher speed as they operate at a much higher temperature
