right, i was wondering, will the 24mm arb from the 106 Gti fit on to a 2002 vts? also would it improve handling, suspension etc?

It would stiffen up the rear end and give you a better handeling car, though it will make it more tail happy. I dont see why it wouldnt fit but im not 100% on that.

Im sure i read some where that the 106 arb is thicker but not by much?

I would be surprised if the 106 gti arb is thicker than the vts

yeah its 24mm and i think the vts is 19 or 22 mm. not sure tho.
just thought that it would give better handling to the car.

When looking at ARBs you should consider what they actually do to the suspension. They keep a car level through a corner by compressing the suspension on the inside wheel.. car stays level but there is an increase in tendancy to lift an inside wheel.
This actually reduces grip so I try to run with as minimal an ARB as possible or none at all. Roll rate I control using stiff springs. Not great for the road though.
On my old 205 rallye I run a small ARB on the front and none on the back. It rarely lifts a wheel on the inside and sticks to the corner like shit to a blanket

You are right the standard gti is 24mm and the vts is 22mm. The rallye 2 is also 24mm but the rallye 1 was 22mm i think

correcto, phase 2 rallyes and gti= 24mm. aftermarket= 25mm

it will fit mate, pm williamsvts as he changed his. definately worth getting
