Could eitha mod the vtr to around 120brake..or get a 206gti..
Would a modded vtr beat a 106 gti standard??

0-60 aye, but not by much.
206 would eat it top end.
206 looks better aswell.

Yeah 206 are nice...would the vtr beat standard 106gti?

If only mate.. young student all that
Just looking to boost the vtr really...i dunno whether it be worth it...
What you lot think??
Predator_R32
18th March 2007, 00:46
well by the time you tune the vtr up you could of spent it on buying a vts and insuring it :)

Maybe Maybe... but i don't wanna get another saxo!! Paid lots on mine so really gotta keep it... Is there much difference between the 2??
Ive been side by side a vts to about 60.. don't seem much?? Blitzed at 70++
Mitchell
18th March 2007, 00:57
aye you would really only notice a big difference after 70

18th March 2007, 00:59
u can get the 206 gti 180/rc
would beat both vtr and vts, think insurance is more though.

18th March 2007, 01:01
depends how good the drivers are...
a vts will beat a 206 gti all day long.
a 206 gti 180 is around the same speed as a vts

yeahh aware off that 180 beast.. nahh its a cliche on here but i lv my vtr... jus how much would it transform it if i modded it fully.. lowers spring and shocks.. strut braced it sorted handling performance everything out..
The amount of 106 gti's there are.. i wanna beat them lol!

pointless spending money on the vtr lump, just go straight for the 16 valver.
the only difference between a vtr/s chassis and 106 gti is the ARB.
it is slightly thicker on the 106

0-60 they are roughly the same but a 180 would pull away from a vts easy.

blacktop VTR = 90bhp 8 valve
silvertop VTR = 98bhp 8 valve
VTS = 120bhp 16 valve

it doesnt matter about you racing your hamster at a set of lights and winnin.
its a 2.0L engine with 60 more hp. it WILL pull away.

It's not pointless.. There is 2 ways you can look at it...
1. You want your car (Your engine) to be fast for what it is..
2. You drop a new lump in your car...
You will get more respect from me by making a vtr fast than just dropping a vts lump in your car..

Yeah cloud!! your on my level... how hard would it be and what would i need to edge a vts or 106gti?? To my standard 98bhp vtr!

id say full exhaust system, enclosed induction, de-cat manifold, cam kit, and a re-map, that will probablies get you close to a gti and vts, providing the gti and vts are standard :)

On a 98bhp model..
Cam/Head work/Remap/Induction/Manifold/Decent Zaust will be hitting around 130bhp..
My friend is running 122bhp from a 90bhp model without a remap..
Easilly enough to kill a vts ;)

yeah but the engine wont be 98bhp now id say, as a car gets older it kind of decreases in bhp due to age etc
and i said them to get close to a vts or gti :p

122bhp from a 90bhp model with slight fueling problems and 112k on the clock .. It depends how well you look after your car man, i mean that says it all.
Mine ran in at 108 with a manifold/BMC and zaust.. Add cam/remap/headwork.. nice amount of bhp,
End of the day it's personal prefrance.. i plan to run my r engine into the ground, when it dies i will then consider a vts lump because i'll want more power by that time.

sticks a vts lump in, loads kicking about. for the sake of the amount of cash you would spend on the vtr tuning it then insuring the new mods. you mite as well stick a vts lump in and you get more bhp straight away. ;)

look into how much a vts engine would cost to buy, fit, get running and insure and then look at how much a vts would cost to buy and insure minus the price you'd get for your vtr and weight things up. i wouldnt get a 206 if was you

Tune the vtr up in my opinion. No one in a vts/gti likes to see a vtr go past them trust me.

The 180 would eat a Vts no danger.

why waste money stressing your engine when you can have that power in a standard engine? with plenty more potential there if you want it.

at last a person who is proud to own and tune a vtr. granted a vts engine will give you more power, but everyone does that nowadays. plus you cant guarantee the condition of the engine you will get. but at the end of the day the choice is yours.

I can see where you are coming from .. I found it very satisfying at castle combe passing a 170bhp engined 106 in an old 75 brake 205 Rallye...
proof that the 2K of chassis mods worked.
It would have been cained in a traffic light GP though.
To beat the Gti I'd start looking at some cams and an ECU, sort the induction and an aftermarket mani is a must. Don't need to start playing with the head until much later.
I do like the 206 though. The last of the good cars made by peugeot I feel
