hey everyone this has probably been asked a million times but ive never really understood the purpose of tweeters. Is it supposed to help high frequency or something in sound?Ive got 2 subs and front and rear alpine components but didnt no if its worthwhile putting tweeters in somewhere?whats everyones opinion and is it pretty easy to wire them in?
p.s if its best to put tweeters in can anyone advise me on what to buy?thanks

yep the tweeters are designed to emit high frequency audio. Acoustically a single speaker outputing from 20Gz to 20kHz is a comprise as its design is really only suitable for a narrow range of frequencies, this means that the clarity and quality of the audio is usually pap. Hence using a specific speaker for a certain task, a Sub, Mid and tweeter are all engineered differently (optimised for a set of frequencies) for audio being outputed. hence usually better clarity over a single speaker.

I dont know anything about buying them seperately, as my infinity comps came with them.
I personally find it well worthwhile having installed them. Very simple to wire, with the crossover. Doesn't take much longer to sort that out. Just have to find a decent place to mount them.
I guess like the rest of an audio setup they are there to play a certain frequency, ie. the higher frequencies. I can certainly hear the difference with vocals and some trebble. They seem to make the music sound much sharper.

ahh i see.i was thinking about maybe putting a couple in after reading some posts about them but didnt no exactly what they were for.I dont have any crossovers installed so therefore if i do put in tweeters, will i have to get a crossover aswell?

yup. thats the device that transmits the correct range of frequencies to the correct speaker :)

ah ok.so will the crossover only be used for the tweeters and my subs and components wont be affected in any way?

you run a wire from the channels on the amp to the crossovers then from the crossovers your wire up the tweeter and mid :)

well you are amping them up but the wires go into the crossovers then wires from crossover to speakers :y:
