I was driving home and this HGV slammed his brakes on as went round a corner, and i went into the back of him. I wasnt goin very fast, in fact the impact didnt feel like much at all. However, wen i looked at the front of my car, it looked bad. The engine seems fine, looks untouched and runs ok, but the bonnet is bent in, the big fan in front of the engine is bent and some of the chassis is bent as well.

Anyone know roughly how much this will cost to repair? I hav a £500 excess which sucks big time, and i didnt get the lorries plate cos he drove off even when i beeped and put the hazards on :@

Cheers

why would you want the HGV to stop anyway?

Bad news mate, however if as you say the chassis is bent then it's going one way to the scrapper I'm afraid.

As an aside could I impress on all motorists to keep their distance in this weather, braking distances (as the OP has found out) are increased in slippery conditions.

Good luck with the car, hope it's not too bad.

well its not like the main chassis thats bent, its jus like the front part thats behind the bumper thats been bent in.
I spose it doesnt really matter that the HGV didnt stop, as it was really not his fault so it wouldnt have helped, but i thought it might have been good to get just in case my insurance company would want the details.
I have someone coming to look at it tomorrow, ill just have to wait and see...
