What size tyres do you have?
If there 45's they will rub if there 40's they wont.

Ahh thats why then you need 195/40/16!
Any pics of it? It shouldnt rub even with 45s if it hasnt been lowered.

its just the rear when i have 1 or 2 ppl in the back, also i have noticed on the drivers side rear, inside on the arch a metal strip has started to show where the inside has been rubbed away, think ill take a hammer to it and bend so its not a edge?

Yeah if you can move things out the way do it :)
If its only when you have one or two people in the rear i wouldnt worry too much but when it comes to replacing your tyres next time get the right size!

it should rub unlowered on 45's.
Cut off the parts that are rubbing or hammer them out the way.

No it shouldnt, when i got my old black vtr it came with 16" alloys fitted with 195/45/16 tyres, i had 2 people in the back on a few occasions and it didnt rub ATALL!

And did you check if it had been modified seeing as you didnt fit the wheels?
16's on 195/45 tyres will rub on standard height with people in it or going over large dips etc...
Had 2 different saxos that i fitted different 16's with 4 different tyre setups and all have rubbed as standard. Also off the top of my head Oz_bournes old vtr did rub so much on 16's unlowered it cut a nice groove in his tyres
In fact if you look through a few threads you will see that this is the case.
