Since having harnesses in my car I have never felt safe in a seatbelt. I quite fancy keeping the standard seats in when I get my VTS but having harnesses. I seen this done on a 106 before, how is this done and is this possible? :drink:

You can mount the side fixings to the original mounting points, and for the rear fix to the mounting points under the rear seat

Can I ask why you feel unsafe in a standard seatbelt? Millions of motorists manage to drive around every day with them, and I don't see much in the way of widespread complaints that they feel unsafe. I've been involved in the modified car scene for over 20 years (yes, I'm old http://www.pcinpact.com/images/smiles/phiphi.gif), but in that time I've seen those who want harnesses in their cars divided into two main groups.

1) Those who NEED them, car is stripped out, full roll cage, racing buckets, fire suppression equipment etc, and their car is USED as a track car.

2) Those wanting to keep up with perceived fads. Keep the car interior, £1000s worth of ICE, hideous fibreglass stuck randomly to the car, and cheap harnesses used to make the car look faster than it is.

I know that what you do to your car is a matter of personal taste, but I would say to you to step back for a few minutes and ask yourself what is your car going to be used for?

Now to answer your question - the mounts must be secured to their anchor points, if you keep the seatbelts, then this will involve fixing to a structural member. Also the harnesses will need to be type approved.

Whichever way you go, good luck.

Good point vidal.

I didn't mean "I don't feel safe in seatbelts" but I feel "safer" in a harnesses. I feel harnesses hold you in better especially on corners etc. I am on country roads a lot of time going to and from places on tight bends etc. Personally I feel harnesses hold you in better. I agree harnesses look stupid if they are not for your own purpose, defo wouldn't be buying them for show.

Im thinking of getting a set for my car, not for any trends or anything, but because of the way i sit ive started to get backache with a slight tendency to lean forward (my posture is awful) So if anything for me the harnesses would act as more of a straight jacket holding me closer to the seat.

Is there any recommendations baring in mind my interior is all still intact so mounting points etc im unsure of. these are the seats i have:

Sorry for slight Highjack DDC, if someone could PM me a couple of suggestions etc id appreciate it to save filling DDC's thread.

Thanks
