Cars been intoday to be lowered on spax springs 40mm and torsion dropped 40mm also, got the car back and kinda dissapointed with the looks so far, seems to be sitting kinda high at the back. its defo been lowered and is noticably lower at the front, but not as low as i had pictured.
fella in the garage says that i will need to be driving it for around 300 to 500 mils to let the springs and the torsion bar set, so that the drop is noticably visable?
any one experienced this
thanks

give it aboutt 2 weeks to bed in and settle,if it still doesnt look right then you'd have to get it lowered abit more.

needs to settle first ...
but have you had shocks put on the back
torsion bars dont settle so you may need to go lower

I agree with woodsy, torsion bars dont settle!! You may need to go another click at the back!!

ok so they dont settle at the back??? thats worrying!! he has defo adjusted the torsion equally 40 mm i know i can trust he done the job properly cos hes a good mate of mine. he just saying it need to settle??
how hard is to 'CLICK' it once more??

20th March 2007, 19:02
was it lowered by notches or the proper way
k666VTR
20th March 2007, 19:03
how do you mean by notches or proper way. sorry im kinda new to cars and technicality i am kinda learning though!
woodsy
20th March 2007, 19:03
not hard if youve just had them out ... wont be seized will they
if he has done it by 'clicks' it wont be 40mm anyway about 35mm tbh

yeah mate give ita few weeks to bed in :y: or you can try pushing on the back in, i do this after jacking it up the torsion bar kind of creaks when you push on the back end once its stopped creaking its back to normal

20th March 2007, 19:16
kk cheers so what your saying is by jacking the car up may loosen the torsion so that it can settle a little easier ???
just looking at pics, of saxo's lowered 40/40 and it doesnt look like them at mo, so i just av to wait do i?

you cant tell by looking to which method he has done by lowering it
have you put new shocks on the back or just lowered the torsion bar with your standard shocks
if you havent put new shocks on the rear it will not drop further
k666VTR
20th March 2007, 19:24
no, no new shocks have been put on the rear.. so not going to go down no more i take it... how hard is it to adjust myself??
woodsy
20th March 2007, 19:30
no wont go down any more. your standard shocks will be settled as much as they can go ...
if you know what your doing go for it ...
if you dont i wouldnt ...

hello people back again, spoken to couple of mates of mine tonight, they reckon that the rear hasn`t been touched at all, i backed it up to my mates VTR and appears exactly the same height as his, looked underneath the car and doesnt appear to have anything touch the torsion bar
ive taken a couple of pictures of the front and the rear, sorry about picture quality its on my mobile

That's bog standard...
Whip the wheel off and have a look if the little rounddust cap protecting the torsion bar has been touched, i bet it hasn't..

yeah that torsion bar has not been altered one bit, where did u take it and how much did they charge?
the torsion bar takes normally 3.5hours if seised or 2.5 if they come out without hastle. i have done over 15 torsion bars now so if u got any questions fire away

errrm how do you do it??? lol i havnt paid for it yet, he said that he want to see the car after 500 miles to see if its dropped but i think he want to see the car after 500 miles just to bide him some time because he really busy at the moment, and do it another time.
how much am i looking roughly to go to someone else to just adjust the torsions for me??
Mattsaxo

there are guides on the net such as http://www.badgermotorsport.co.uk/lowering.htm its not hard to lower them its gettign the torsion bars out thats the pain as there usually seised in. by the sound of it he is giving u the run around, with lowering the rear torsion bar u will see it drop instantly and settles within a 5min drive. if yo go to somewhere else to get it doen see if someone on here can do it for you as it will be cheaper, i used to do it for £60 but if u get a garage to do it expect to pay £120-£150 jsut for the torsion bar
