I am thinking of singing up for the membership at Man United for next season.
Just wondering if anyone has been a member and how hard is it to get games for premiership, champions league etc. And also what seats you can/cannot get.
What exactly are the trains like, or if your travelling by car what are the fees like.
Just wanted general idea what its like really, i'll only be able to go once a month as its a journey for me from here.

i know its £5 to park the car in various car parks arounbd the ground.
memebership is not a season ticket also. also with it being scum utd (sorry for that) id imagine there might even be a waiting list for membership
normally ticket sales go
season ticket holders
memebership
general release
some games will be easy but others will be exceptionally difficult (champs league ones after the first round) normally you need a receipt stub from one champs league game in order to get tickets for the next one

think he means membership, as in member you pay a certain fee but get offered tickets before the general public

You will struggle because im sure theres a waiting list for the membership
Id wait till united come play by you and buy tickets in the home section but keep quiet
20 times cheaper but you cant beat the atmospheare at old trafford (when the hardcore fans are there, not the people who turn up for the prawn sandwiches;))

Have you ever seen Peterborough United play football?
I have seen more skill at my footy on a sunday afternoon, plus its £13 for a ticket.

standing doesnt happen now due to people getting crushed and dying.

Yes all stadiums are most sitting after the Hillsborough incident......which in all honesty was something that had to be imposed, but a few members of FA where on Sky Sports news the other day commenting on bringing back standing areas of stadium with safety implications now in place.......I think it would be good for die hard fans who love the sing song and banter
Robb

theres usually at least one stand at each stadium, known to be full of the 'die hard' fans. e.g. the kop or the northam stand in southamptons instance, these are usually standing stands anyway

according to the website for manU they dont have a waiting list yet they are not issuing any more extra season tickets so the only way to get one would be to hope that someone sees the light decides they no longer want their one and then you get lucky and buy it.

Richp - Everybody wants their teams to be as best they can. I prefer to stick with my local team and my english team. I am a diehard Ayr United supporter, the Scottish game isn't the best and especially not the 2nd Division but they are my local team and I will support them through thick and thin. They may not play like Brazil but whats the point seeing a team that you know are more or less going to win every week. I would rather pay £13 to watch Peterborough United and see players "playing for the shirt" than £50-odd to see players play for money etc.
My english team believe it or not is Bristol Rovers. They played Ayr United in a friendly and I got friendly with some of their supporters. I try and get down at least once or twice a season to see them. I could just as easy go and see Man Utd but ain't a gloryhunter.
P.S. Nothing wrong with wanting to go and watch quality football every so often, just don't like peoples attitude. My local team is p*sh, you wonder why the smaller clubs have money troubles etc!

:y: Im a One united member been for 4 years now, I get member tickets quite easily to be honest, but every game i go to will be different seats. My uncle has a season ticket which i use if when he doesn't go which is 8-10 games a year when i can't get a ticket myself. I normally get too 15-16 games a season with both my uncles season ticket and my member tickets. I am on the season ticket waiting list myself and i have been for 3 years now, and number 3871 in the Queue apparently.
I get a man u supporters coach from essex £20 both ways. As it is cheaper than me driving.

I was a member for 2 seasons, you will get to any CL Group game no problems, you will get to most premiership games no problem at OT aswell, though games like Man City will have sold out in an hour.
Train then tram is best bet for getting to the games i would say, only a short walk from the tram station.

Baz - Cheers mate i did think that the trains/trams option would be best i thought the tram was nearby to old trafford, thanks mate.
ManUtd1808 - On the manchester united website they are offering a One membership for £10 reduced from £27, however i assume that its for the last part of the season until May? Then you would renew next season?
You go to many away games either?

Yes the Membership is correct, unfortunately I do not go to away games as a member you are not allowed to apply, and only season ticket holders who apply on a first come first serve basis.
Hope it helps you.:y:

Yes you do its £27 for adults and £16 for under 16 for a whole season which isn't too bad.

Well here goes, I got a season ticket and come from edinburgh every game. Costs usually £60 there and back on petrol. Then you got food, programme etc etc. Oh my season ticket cost £550 for this season.
To get a season ticket you have to become a member first, and you have to pay for champions league games whether you go or dont, you got no choice there.
If you just become a member then you can apply for all games. Then if there are too many people applying (which there always is) your name goes into a ballot.
For cup games the more games you go to, like at the start you will start to get priority as the season goes and hopefully we progress.
Anything else you need to know, let me know mate.
Hope that helped :)
