Back from illness as i had a tonsalectomi (tonsils out) two weeks ago now, if i can advise anyone try your best not to have them done, specially if your in your early 20's or above, Doctor said to me that removing tonsils and apendix after the age of 20 is THEE most painfull of operations, and he's right...
everytime i eat i get the worst earache (still, after 11 days).... swallowing is like trying to eat chalk, it just doesn't happen...

Pain is an understatement mate, I have 18 stiches...9 per side in my throat, I was coughing out packing for 3 days.... i had just come round from the op and they gave me a cheese sandwich on dry bread...
ever tried eating barb wire? thats what i felt like, even now the pain is still there!

also, not sure if you read it in your other thread about this but removing the tonsils makes you prone to flu and colds etc.. so expect to be ill alot more than you was before!

Your tonsils are at full capicity and your glands, nasal passage etc..so everything swells up just that bit more than it would when your young...fuckin horrible mate, never felt pain like it.., i also had an abses underneath them so a 20 min op took an hour, he said mine we're that bad he had to disect them in my throat and pull them out in chunks...
nice

doubt it leo, every three weeks my throat was swelling up with the abses being there, then in my sleep the abses would leak and i would swallow the fluid, causing blood poisening (every three weeks)....
At one point in jan a paremedic came out because my temp was 39.2 (on the verge of a stroke or heart attack at that temp)..
put it this way, before i had my op when i looked in my throat to the left there was a huge abses (approx 1" in diameter)...which had embedded itself into my tonsil...now ive got nothing, the beer just falls down...

Swallen glands are commen, specially in smokers...but not directly linked to tonsilitas...
but i suppose it would be nice if someone here had to suffer like me.
