Right guys how much would you pay for a 1998 106 GTI, this car has 100,000 miles on the clock, although it does have FSH, fully serviced, 12months mot, 6 months tax, half leather interior and all the usual extras!
This car is also in gold colour and is completely standard!
Cheers for your help!

No way I'd buy a car with that sort of mileage, things start going tits up at around 100,000. You're buying someone else's problems.
Regardless of the FSH, the engine must have tired legs with that mileage and don't be surprised if it's not making 120bhp anymore.
If you want it though, I'd start at £1000 and work up from there, defo less than £1500.

I'm not having a go at you mate, but why do people think that a car with 100k plus on is bound to go wrong?
Aslong as it's been looked after with servicing and not ragged out, I'm sure it would be fine for another 50,000 miles. I'm guessing about £1,600 or £1,700 for it considering age and mileage. The 12 months MOT and been completely standard add the value for it.

Trouble is, unless you know who the owner is, it is a big lottery. Best off taking a mechanic along or getting an AA check. Could save you pounds in the end. Other side of the coin, some low milege cars can be a money pit, due to lack of use. Either way it is worth doing your homework first, before you buy :detective:

I know what you're saying but If you personally would offer £1600, I just think you could get something with far less mileage with say an extra £500 quid or so and maybe get to keep the car a little longer.
The other thing is, people don't usually buy 106Gtis to drive gently do they?? Then again, it depends who's had it I suppose.
