my mates 206 just came back from the garage and failed its mot on the zaust being 2 loud and a wishbone.
its only got a custom made dual exit back box on from powerflow. aint even very loud, noway should it fail a mot. is this guy takin the pi**

it can mine did, but they let it throw in the end as i said you do not have any sound test stuff to prove it. and they said they could not prove it so let pass

mite go back and see wot he says again. its only a back box has a cat etc in it

i dodnt know how the can prove it tho has the guy got his hearing aid turned up to much

i actually am a m.o.t tester and yes we can fail the exhaust for being too noisy.

surely there has to be set criteria for it to pass. E.g., a DB limit? if you can't test whether it exceeds this limit then it's just circumstantial...

yer i know wot your saying i have never actually failed an exhaust for being too noisy as yet unless it was leaking exhaust gases. but now and then you do get some harsh m.o.t testers.

there is a db limit think its around 90 to 100 db

there is no law stating a legal noise limit for cars on the "street" its only on a track that they are limited to 98db

If the car has a CAT, then there should be no reason for your mates car to fail the test just because of a loud exhaust!
