Your in a crash *god forbid*
you can't get out.. your trapped for some reason..
A nice guy/girl stops as they have just seen you crash..
They try to help
They can't because they can't open your door..

um, yes :err:
if you need convincing, the first hit for "MOT checklist" on google comes up with it
DOORS
Both front doors must be capable of being opened from the inside and outside and all doors must latch securely.

You must have manual entry to the car.
Use TVR style mirrors which have manual push buttons on the rear to open the doors
That will keep mr mot happy

some lowriders in america have buttons under the sills. chip foose does them on most of his cars. also seen them in the movie "gone in sixty seconds". i know the buttons have electronics but doesnt that still count as manual entry???

my mate has got door poppers on his alarm key fog and a button under the side skirt if all else fails. you just need to run an + and - from your battery to somewhere that is easily accessed such as under your arch so if the battery goes flat you can give it enough power to open the doors

on the fone to the VOSA today it is acceptable 2 have door handles removed as long as you can gain entry from inside and outside the car e.g. electronic fob. took his name though just in case

If your crash doesnt break a window & you cant open the door you dont deserve help!
You must have some form of manual door entry for the MOT.
Even if you have manual entry & you battery goes dead, you still cant unlock the door!
You need to run 2 spare wires from the battery to somewhere hidden but accessable in the engine bay (somewhere along the bottom of the bumper or near the front grill etc that you will beable to reach from outside the car with the bannet closed). If the battery goes dead you just need a set of jump leads and a friend which a car (with a live battery) to connect to your hidden wires so that you can activate yout door locks with the fob again. :y:
