can you mix brake fluid? as i want to top mine up a little and ive got some dot 5.1, but dont know whats in there at the minuate, tryed searching but come up with nothing rep up for grabs:y:

not sure if you can but id bleed the full system tbh
differant fluids have differant temp resistance so not worth your brakes failing

i dont need to bleed the system the brakes are fine at the mo i just want to top it up a little

i cant see why it would affect it as they would just mixed together

i wouldn't do it bud as dot 3&4 brake fluids absorbes water (glycol-based fluids) and dot 5 doesn't absorb water and is silicon based so can't be mixed bud

i know that i wouldnt have dot 3 in it, ive got the dot 5.1 that can be used in citroens, well if i cant mix it i wont bother topping it up

dot 5.1 is glycol based so just add it

it said on the back of the container that its ok to mix with dot 4 and 3 should have looked there first lol
