Might be looking at a car for my younger brother in the next few days maybe even tomorrow, its a very cheap price for what it is so im abit suspicious about it tbh!

The owner has told me its all fine NOTHING wrong with it atall but he would say that wouldnt he!?

Does an hpi check tell you if the car has been in a crash?

Yeah it tells you if it's been accident damaged, has outstanding finance etc.

theres nothing wrong with buying an accident damaged car anyway as long as it has been reapired properly

my 106 is a catD write off only thing it affects is the re sale price by 10-15%

Id rather not buy a crashed car, therye hard enough to sell as it is and they will lose loads of value. Plus most of the time theyre not reapaired properly

Ahh yeh i have done that before but lost the damn number :(

So i have found the site that does it for £10 or theres the rac which costs £25 but i think you get a guarantee with rac? So is it better to go with that one?

HPI is known to be the most accurate, though it only shows up if it's been written off, not that it's never been crashed.

Best way to check is to compare the rad possition of your car and the 106 and make sure it sits correctly. Then lift the boot carpet and check that it's flat with no whelds in odd places or ripples. Check the panel fit all round, expecially the rear 3 quarter panels to see if they sit right.

I know of loads o cars that have been crashed anbd repaired more than once but it still won't show up unless they are written off. I know of one Seat that was involved in 4 accidents by the time it was 3 years old and only the roof panel was original!

Im 21 this year had my first car at 18 cat c silver 1.1 x s reg 98 wanted to repair it for when i passed my test but ended up sellin it when it was finished it needed clutch wing headlight and it was £450 to buy. Second one was a 1.1x again s reg on a 99 plate this was out of auto trader it was advertised as slight bump not recorded for £480 ( With lexus lights, cd player 16" alloys and neons) when i got there nay leeds bradford airport it was a rite mess nocked him down to £200 so i got it for £280 with delivery. bearing in mind jigging and respraying the front end cost me £625 alone then there was front end parts it cost me around the same as an undamaged one in the end but i wanted a project some might call it a challenge. enyway then i lost my mum and also lost interest in the car and sold it for £800 with al the receipts and a 12mth m.o.t finally just got a vtr cat c 2001 plate needs wishbone wing windscreen and swinging arm. because cars are so cheap now insurers pay out nayle al the time because the COR exceededs the PAV.
