Hello ppl.

In november after totalling my 1.1 i brought myself a black MK2 VTR. The first hing i had done after handing over the cash was to get on confused.

So i entered my details in:
Age: 19
Driving Exp: 2 years
NCB: 0
Claims (regardless of fault): 1 not my fault all claims recovered
1 my fault car totalled 1500 payout.
Other details entered etc.

So the cheapest quote i get back is quick fit at £1800 and i think fair enough im a dick to roll my car ill go for that. I sign up nd am away (they anted £2100 to pay over a year!)

Anyways people all seem to tell me omg quickfit were the most i got quoted and i should look at elephant or bell. So anyways 5 months go by taking me up to now and i look on confused get a quote, the usualy suspects come up;
This insurer opted out
Please ring
etc.

then i pop on bell and log in (details set up through confused) and bring up my quote at £2000. Then im like what the hell. Bell thought i had both accidents my fault and the second one where i rolled involving another car and a payout of £3000. This is nowhere near the truth so i alter details and BAM with everything declared im offered £1200 for the year with all extras.

Just wondering really if anyone else noticed how shyte confused is at telling the insurers the truth when it comes to claims.

Also advice, if i switch to say bell and go for a year do i loose the 5 months ive built up, therefor starting my first year NCB again? Or can i ring bell and say hey mates can i be insured for like 19 months so they can carry on tthe rest of my year or something?

I really need to change to cheaper insurance cos this £180 odd a month is killing me when i can be paying little over £100.

Richard

EDIT: Wow sorry for the length, looks liek i wont get any replies with a post like this :)

Yeah to be honest i never bothered going ot the individual companies, just kind of excepted i would be paying through the nose for insurance, so untill never thought. Im such a dumb ass and i am gettin ripped off badly due to their mistake :( Just gotta wait for november to come round so i can get it even cheaper and ill have a year NCB.

ring up your existing insurers and see if they will match the price quoted by bell otherwise you will take your business else where.

i have had major probs with insurance, when i renewed this year i shopped around for quotes and declared all mods, i found one about £300 cheaper, i thought game on, being 21 makes a difference. i got them to check all the details and make sure the mods were there. waited for the statement of facts and they werent on there. i rang them up and they said its ok there on the system. i asked for it in writing, 3 days later they said they didnt have them on there and wanted me to pay £1800 more. i also missed my renewal as i went with someone else. so my insurance went up £150 thanks to them and i got no compensation

i found exactly the same thing with confused.com.

my cheapest quote on confused.com was with admiral so i went direct to them and they halved the quote that confused.com gave me even though it was with the same company and same details etc. confused.com had put my info in wrong

when i enter my regi on confused.com, it tells me my car is a sport version, and its bumps my insurance up by £500, but my car is a sports version, so i aint using confussed for my requotes, my insurer sent in next years plan, and that suits me fine :)

did you not check the details of the policy to which you signed up? I get a load of paperwork or at least details of what I am signing up for online from my insurance broker. If you had been mis-sold your policy then your information supplied would have been incorrect at the time.

If you cancel your current policy you will get a financial hit and you will most likely not get half your money back. What you will have to find out is how much you will and if you cancel this policy and start a new one; will you be better off.

My guessing is its a bit too late if you did not check the details were correct with your current insurance company for any cancellation due to a mistake by confused so you will pay termination fees.

Confused is really only a useful tool for people who dont want to phone around themselves. Personally i try to do the legwork myself as its a lot cheaper and I get pissed off with the insurance brokers phoning me thinking they can get a cheaper deal with one of their asocciates.

I had a great argument with one who when I said I had a better deal with someone else, told me that they basically thought I was fibbing. Told them I'm not going to argue with them over it because I will just sign up to the other company and hung up :D

You have to be careful with confused, I was running about in a 1.8 16v laguna for a while until the cambelt snapped, AA came out as the cheapest quote to confused so i went with them, but when i tried to change vehicles to the astra they wanted to start a complete new policy....insurance underwriters are a big no no....get insurance with a direct company, not someone who acts as the middle man

Same thing happened to me, some company put me through to a company. They asked me what my last quote was and on what. I said Full Comp @ £840 on a modified Saxo, and he said basicaly repeated it back to me in a "So your telling me..." attitude, then when I told him It was true, he told me I was wasting his time, and put the phone down.

Annoyed me, but made me laugh, as 5 minutes later I had FC insurance for £840. :)

Ive been looking for car insurance lately quite a lot (saying that ive passed my test) And confused was shit. Basically giving me the crap companies and churning out quotes genreally ranging from 3k to 7k. No point in the site to be hoenst unless you wanted ripped off. Best sites for car insurance aren't listed on that site!
