Hi, I've just ordered the Spax PSX Kit for my VTR, with this can kit can i adjust the height to whatever or is there a limit to how low i can go? If so what is it?
Im looking to lower mine 50mm front and back, possibly lower in the future, would that be ok?
Cheers

Nope you cannot adjust the height unless you swap springs as this kit is only has On-car damping adjustment.

To be able to adjust the height you want coilovers, but even then you wont be able to adjust the rear of the car with out adjustng the torsion bar

the kit does come with new springs but only for the front as the rear uses a different suspension system.

the damping control allows to set how much resistance there is to the motion of the spring. Imagine a pendulum in air and then a pendum in water... which one returns to the centre first???

The one in water... why?

because the water damps the oscillations quicker. I.e. it has a higher rate of damping. the same goes for the suspension :)

that seems much easier to understand many thanks man, rep given! so simpler terms i can adjust the firmness of the ride? is that right?

also sorry to keep going on but, if in the future i wanted a lower ride height can i buy uprated springs with a drop of 50/60mm which would fit in place of the springs with the kit?

The Spax kits come in 40mm or 60mm so you can't go 50mm.

But if you bought the 40mm PSX kit and then wanted to go down an additional 10mm in the future, then that shouldn't be a problem.

Yes, you can buy new springs with whatever drop you want and use them with the dampers, although as said above Spax don't do a 50mm ( i don't think) so you'll need to look at other makes.

also be prepared to wait a while for your Spaxx kit!

when i say wait i mean 4-8 weeks! :n:

the only thing you need to be aware is if the damper is not a shortened unit, then if you choose a spring which lowers a lot then you could ride the bump stops constantly which will lead to premature failure
