I'm sure they'd differ from prison to prison so I'd get in contact with them or a department who deals with it direct.

Sensible lad - a good mate!

You need to speak to people at the prison like receptionists/admin people. Each prison has different rules as to how long and when, how often etc.

kenny
27th March 2007, 21:26
you have to phone and book a visit now. usually give 24 hours notice and can go see him. to book a visit its the prison he is in your phone but their are lines to phone to do this.

phone the main reception of the prison and they will point you in the right direction

hope this helps

there bringing in a new scheme to prisons that if a person is in the prison for between 3months and UNDER 3 years they are asked if they wish to be released on a tag after 2months i think and the rest of the sentence on the tag.

might not apply everywhere but it does apply in perth near me.

before people ask or wonder No i havent been to prison but i know of a few people who have been and are in prison at the minute

woodsy
27th March 2007, 21:57
before people ask or wonder No i havent been to prison but i know of a few people who have been and are in prison at the minute

so what if you have ... prison is a punishment for crimes that cannot be served in the community

i remember my mate Gav got sent down for beating his girlfriend to a pulp, he deserved everything he got tho, putting the poor girl on life support!

he got out after 4 months, went home, knocked on the door and an OAp answered it, him not knowing his parents had moved to america cos they were ashamed of him for what he did, bit harsh but i felt sorry for him.

R.I.P Gav...

MarkyG
28th March 2007, 09:51
no one in chelmsford ever spoke to him after that, i was the only one who stood by him. he was really messed up cos of it tho. Chelmsford Prison was not nice at that point from what i used to hear about the place.

Someone my mate knew originally got 12 months but it got reduced to 6 months.... he'd attacked someone with a steering lock the c*ck. He deserved what he got an should have been in longer in my opinion... he's a right chav and since being let out he hasn't changed... his gf even drove him to the guys who were giving him some shit so he could wallop them with something....

thick b*st*rds......... but she was only allowed to see him once every 3 weeks.

But good luck to your mate... and I hope for your sake you get to see him more than that x x

sorry to drag up an old thread but i just thought id share my 2p. saxodan the only way your mum could access information like that is if she works in the court. local prisons do not and are unable to find out lists of who has been sentrnced/remanded for what.

even if she did somehow perform the impossible and find out, and told anyone then she would be breaking the official secrets act, as we all have to sign it the second we are offered a job. and if she did do it then she is almost as pathetic as you for posting what you have done.

jackman, i hope you have already got it sorted to go see your friend, from your profile i see you're in bridgend, so guessing hes at parc? i know quite a few staff from parc and its not that bad a place from all reports. but i couldn't really help you with the visiting side as its a private prison ran by group4securicor so they have different guidelines and rules on visits, but they usually have a dedicated visits booking line

Ask your mate if theres anything he would like you to bring him in, i.e books or cd's or even some photos of mates family etc, even small things are a comfort inside especially if its his 1st time.

If you want any more info feel free to pm me, i will try my best to help ;)

haha another misconception. by law you are only allowed to 'pat down' visitors. they walk under a metal dector like the ones in airports, and if carrying a handbag or anything it goes through the x ray machine or is searched by the osg's (operational support staff)

If you are suspected of conveying anything at all the visit is termanated and the police called. They are the only people allowed to strip search a civillian and thats only if they are arrested anyway. If they suspect something has been passed during a visit then after the visit is ended as normal or terminated early the prisoner then has to go and be strip searched which yes usually does involve squatting over a mirror lol.

this is true i used to visit some1 in prison ..

you wont get searched unless they think nessesary but you do have to go through the airport style thing of emptying your pockets and going through a metal detector and your bag through a scanner .

you could always give the prison a ring about visits and you could always ask them to get a message to the person u want to see

hope that helps a bit

Off subject but the worst nick in the UK is armely, 24hour look up...one of lads i know got addicted to heroin and went down the wrong road with dealing etc to fund his habbit, got caught with a lot on him and did 6 years, I ican remember him telling me they had to peel the pastry off sausage rolls off the meat and just eat the sausage cos the pastry was that old! said it was a shit time but you should see him now, glowing with health and a nipper and mrs in his life...weird how prison can turn peeps lifes around

6months will pass really quickly (maybe not for him tho)

Besides no matter what he 'has' or 'hasn't' done as long as he behaves himself, steers clear of the wrong people in there he'll be let out early anyway.

You sound like a top mate to this bloke - Id like to think someone would do the same for me if Id had to stay at her Majasties pleasure for any amount of time.

Take him loads of Chocolate and Fags (Cigs not Homos as there is probally enought of them in there already) to sell for stuff, and ask him if he thinks he could do the term without going in the showers? I know I wouldnt take a shower in prison :) well, would you? . . . I think not

Yes there is the offical secrets act but do you really think my Mum is going to tell me lol

well she is either a nurse, works on the voluntary testing wings or is part of the dst, which i doubt about the last bit. or she is some kind of healthcare support.

haha an officer like me, oh i like it. first of all im not just a lowly officer im a senior officer for a start and have worked in 4 of the worst prisons in the country and am on permanent 24hr call out believe me i will have more access to information than your mum, this also includes medical information, im also more medically qualified than some of the nurses in the hospital wings, being able to administer intravenous drugs and use defibrilating pads etc. (was the worst/hardest 10week course i have ever done lol). dont try and act all clever as if you know what i do as my job, some of the shit i have seen and done would give you nightmares.

And of course your mum isn't going to tell you anything so why make stupid posts like that when the poor lad is only after some information. Go back and crawl under whatever rock you came from and keep your mis-informed smart ass comments to yourself.

all prisoners are entitled to exercise each morning for half an hour

education/workshop for 7 hours a day

and association time every day (depending on the prison)

the most theey are locked up for is 23 hours, they have to come out for there meals, exercise, association and education, they can however choose not to do any of them but wont get paid, think the highest pais job is laundry and kitchens, there about 10 - 15 pound a week and thats a lot in a place like that

for god sake! the poor guy is prob upset his mate is put away, maybe wanted comfort from his mates of this forum, sometimes it helps to talk about things even is its not in detail, how many of u guys come on here and boast about new mud flaps! give the guy break!

and making coments which are normally from a perspective that can be percived as patronising can be just as bad.

a little bit of humour can be good in a situation that is really hard to deal with.

people need to lighten up a bit.
