How reliable are saxos. Ive spoken to a few mechanics who say the "rear arms" go all the time and they are generally poor!!
Whats the verdict?

i think it depends how you treat em...modified ones dont last aslong as standard one's

Only issues Ive had with my VTR and this 106 is mainly:
1 - bad idle at times
2 - rear beam clanging
The idle was sorted by changing the plugs and coil pack, rear beam is a bit
dodgy as its soo hard to find what where noises are coming from.
Dont let people put you off mate. A good example will see many miles if its
looked after and not stupidly modified!!

I think a lot of people will say theyre unreliable however mine never failed me once. Buy a decent car, and hopefully it'l be fine but you can never be sure specially when buying second hand.

Ive HAD endless problems with mine. but i think that was mainly down to the previous owner to be honest.

Brakepads fell out,
Gearbox blew, replaced and clutch,
Battery died,
Driveshafts just gone.........
>_< Tax is due, tyres are needed.

Depends how you drive it, drive it normally and it will be reliable.

I dont normally comment because i know if i say something about it being reliable, it will break down when i next go out in it. So far its been pretty good for me. Had it just over a year and its been in the garage once, and it wasnt a major problem.

Spend the extra when buying in my opinion and you shouldnt have many problems. My mk1 is practically a new car with the amount of stuff thats gone on it. Down to previous owner really. Ecu went after 8 hours. Engines been changed. So has clutch, gearbox, front struts etc..
Only really time it fails me now is when i modify it lol. And general wear n tear as its a R reg.

engines priity much bullet proof
gearboxs are a weak point
so are drive shafts if you have big wheels and low
modified ones will fuck up if there not looked after or modified wrong
like any car really look after it corectley and will be fine
