I had my 40mm spax psx kit fitted today, looks quite nice! Have a few questions I hope someone can answer though!

1) When I picked the car up the front was sitting quite high, then after I ran it home and roundabout tonight it's sitting slightly lower, will that be it at it's height now or will it drop some more?
2) The ride feels very uncomfortable now abd I can't work out whether it is too hard or too soft. It seems to picks up every single bump in the road, even one's that you can't see! Can anyone tell me whether this sounds like the dampers need to be softened or hardened?
3) The steering seems different now, feels quite... loose? i.e. when turning the front wheels will pull to the side I'm turning to? Is this normal? I've not had the tracking checked yet but it isn't pulling to any side in particular, just whatever way I'm turning!

Hope someone can answer the above, thanks for any help.

picked up my springs today (20quid!) and it says on the instructions that its advised to have your tracking done and wheels balanced

Taking it to kwik fit tomorrow so my brother can check it so I'm hoping he'll do that for me! Also may try making the ride softer and harder while it's on the ramp and see if it makes a difference to comfort.

Can anyone tell me how the dampers are adjusted? The garage that fitted them threw away the instructions! I know the key is used for the front and a screwdriver for the rear, but do you turn them anti clockwise till they stop then turn clockwise however many clicks you want to set it at?

When i got my PSX kit fitted it sat high just let it settle it will go lower. As for the ride adjustment from factory they are set to the softest setting i found this to be to springy if you get me tighten them up abit its easy to do i had the fronts set to medium and the rears on hard found that to be quite good. Get tracking and wheel balance done mate.

the rears are adjusted with a flat head screwdriver on the side of the damper.

The fronts are adjusted from the top of the struts in the engine bay.

btw, I have a spax psx kit fitted on mine and yes it's very bumpy because I am set to hard all the way around but it handles like a dream.

Ok, while under the car earlier I found the bit on the rear shocks for adjusting them, just couldn't find the front adjuster! So thanks Scott! Also noticed while I was under the car that the passanger damper was shiny and new looking, but the driver side one was dirty and old looking, I'm hoping it is actually the new damper in there!

I'm getting the tracking done on Wendesday.

Just one more question, I've noticed that when turning (mostly in full or near full lock) that there is a sort of rubbing noise but I'm pretty sure the wheels wouldn't rub as they are standard. It also sounds like it's only on the passanger side. There is also a mettle scraping on mettle sound from the passanger side sometimes.

Just did a search and I think you're right there lanky114, rep for you! Is the PAS pipe the one that is green near the front and then black? I've read that it will wear through the pipe if it's not moved out the way, and I've driven about 40 miles since it was lowered, will it be ok to drive it 6 more miles before moving it do you think or should I get the bus to work tomorrow?

I've got the same prob with the PAS pipe, 6 miles won't hurt, mines been making a funny noise for about 100 miles now and I'm not quite sure what to do about it

my spax PSX dampers have been left on the sofest setting, its very bouncy but I can't be bothered to adjust them, knowing me I'll mess it up somehow

Well I'm going to get under and have a look, I'd rather cable tie it out of the way if I can, and if not I'll need to bend it out the way somehow. Just not sure what it's rubbing on or where to cable tie/bend it to! lol

Ok took the front passanger side wheel off tonight to see what was rubbing and couldn't find anything! Was going to cable tie the PAS pipe out of the way but the pipe I thought was that was metal ancouldn't be moved... is this it or am I looking at the wrong thing? I also took my girlfriend's dad a ride in the car to let him hear the noise and he said it sounds like it hitting the bump stops, would this be possible since I got the Spax dampers aswell?

All suspension not just lowerd, once disturbed has to be given time to resettle and depending on the items fitted depends how long it takes to find its correct level.

Id personaly be Well worried about the diffence in look to the front shocks!

Get that checked asap cos I really dont like the sound of that.

Be intrested to see what your brother makes of it.

Took the car back to the garage that did it today as the clunking was constant and it turned out it had a dry bearing which was causing the damper to unscrew everytime I turned. So they fixed it for free and so far I've not heard anymore clunking! Only thing is a slight rubbing on the PAS pipe but I'll get that moved. Fingers crossed it's fine now!

They should be pointing inwards. i.e facing each other. :y:

I have got this kit , got the back set on 20 clicks and the front on 10 clicks . The ride quality is a bit hard but it handles very well
