MK2 Angel Eyes Queries!

Received them today, very happy with the goods (cheers Gary), just a few queries though..

I haven't set about fixing them, gonna attempt tomorrow, just after a bit of knowledge first..

1. I'm assuming the 3 red + 3 black wires are to light the halo's up.

2. The indicator will need the indicator holder from the original light, right?

3. What is the space above the indicator bulb used for? Do I use a holder from the original light for this? Also would I use the same type of bulb I'm using as my full beam for this??

4. How many bulbs are used for each light? With the order I ordered 4x gas H1 bulbs, and 2 chrome indicators. I can see the chrome indicators in the lights atm, but would I use 2 H1 bulbs for each light? One for main beam, and the other for the beam above indicator?

Cheers mate, its mk2 i'm after though.. I know you splice the sidelight wire to wire up the red + blacks just bit confused by the other points..

Yes, one set of wires for each ring, and one set of wires for the additional LED sidelight... you can also run your standard sidelight bulb in conjunction with it...

Yes you twist it and unclip it, and put in into your angels...

It's so you can add your standard sidelight bulb... you will need to use hte holder from your original lights...

Im not that sure about aftermarket bulbs as mine came with bulbs in them... but you should have chrome indicator bulbs... in the holders from your old lights... sidelight bulbs in the holders from your own lights (optional) then the headlight (main beam) bulbs should already be in when you get them...

Mine came with 2 sets of H1 blubs aswell. 2 for main beam and 2 for the projectors/dipped beam.

Separately, you can buy chrome indicator bulbs. Im still using the orange ones from me std headlights though.

If you intend to use the sidelights (the little 501's) aswell as the angels then again, you might want to buy some chrome 501s instead of the boring standard ones. I had some blue xenon 501s in mine which i now put in2 my angels. They arent wired up though, im just using them to plug up the hole ;)

I ONLY have the 2 halos wired up as sidelights so the 3rd set of black & red wires are tied up out the way, & the blue 501s (you can vagely see above the indicator & halo) are not wired either :)

mystic - so did you use 2x H1 bulbs on each light? My lights came with bulbs, i replaced the main bulbs on both, leaving me with an unopened packed of H1 bulbs..

is this alright? can I use the other 2?

Yep thats the one. 4 H1 bulbs in total.

I meant to add that my post was to expand on Alex's answer to question 5.

Also its probably worth mentioning that on the back of the light unit the 3 sets of red/black wires that come out the unit. The bottom 2 sets lead to the halos & the top set is for the aditional LEDs.

If you compare where they go into the unit at the back to where that roughly leads to in the front its more obvious, worth mentioning though to put your mind at ease when your decidinig what wires are 4 what :y:

so just to clarify.. the place to input main + low dipped bulbs is

1. with the rubber cap on (replaced those bulbs both lights)
2. the furthest right on the headlight, (the 2 that are linked, with the connector? the big round plastic ball which you twist to get off?

update - done all bulbs replaced.

now just to query if i dont want to put an additional bulb in the socket above the indicator can i block it up with anything?

i have the mk1 style angels (came with the car) however never had the halos working.. i see 3 black wires loose (these are earth i believe?) and 3 red ones loose, that goes for both units..

To get the halos working what do i need to do..?

Yeah seen that but is does not seem to be the same as mine as i have 3 black loose wires and 3 red loose wires and i can only see 4 loose wires on that picture??

Just wanna know how to connect them up..
