to be fair to LAD Motorsport, not all work carried out by them has had bad reports. There have been a number of people who have had work carried out by them who sing their praises...

tbh, i wouldnt care if it was only one car, if theyve been shoddy before an I became the second and couldnt do shit about it i wouldnt be happy. A decent company wouldnt be shoddy ever, especially on a car thats gonna go through serious stress and bad workmansip could end up killing the two in the car and possibly spectators too.
my two pence

every company has its critics
look at carworx for one....
most people preach them and have had good work but theyve had their shit times too
marks sax for one

true. I just dont generally trust these 'specialist' tuning companies, i know quite a few people that have been done over by those who are meant to be the best and lost thousands because of it. The San Remos do look like awesome machines, but they fully fucked Ant over and thats just not on, they deserve to lose a lot of business over it
jaybiss
9th April 2007, 00:35
they probly will
so will carworx with mark and someone elses (on ssc) fuck ups
every company has a fault including gmc ;)
although their fault was customer service not workmanship
i honeslty havent heard a bad word about their orkmanship in my 3 - 4 years of browsin here and ssc

The work they carry out is ok, its the BHP figures they claim to produce.
Like 180bhp from a vts with just breathing and head work... Load of bollocks!
Ant's saxo was just a total bodge though
TheMadSaxo
9th April 2007, 10:20
It's just the power figures they quote that are way out - look in the website. 170 bhp from a ported cylinder head and manifold! lol!
Apart from this I've heard the work they carry out is very good. Why else would Citroen trust them for the San Remo Vts ?

their peugeot 205 goes very well in the BTRC saloon championship so their work isn't all BS. The BHP claims do seem a tad inflated but many a place can be criticised of the same - blame the marketing teams!
kenny
9th April 2007, 17:00
does sound like marketing from everything ive heard of them but it all depends tbh. a few people might be lucky and it be good and the odd one have shit workmanship or as said like ant jackson and get fucked over

i was actually talking to a guy today who has had work done at LAD and didnt have a bad word to say about them, claims 160bhp from breathing mods and port and polished head, he was running good times, unsure on the exact times, maybe someone else seen them, he said with a cams he could be at 180bhp.
Said he hears alot of shit about them but he is very happy with his car and the work, said hes been on the rollers at 160 and that wasnt the ones at LAD
so who knows
never heard bad about there work either just there bhp predictions

cams, head. on standard lifters. 180 no chance. he prob happy, times would tell.
im sure saxo 180 hense the name had his done there or previous owner
Yates
9th April 2007, 17:40
his is now back to standard bullit
the fella was very happy with what hes got be interesting to see his times compared to say williams with a cammed vts and then saxo180 which is now running pretty much standard

I will post some before and after shots of the standard of work done, during the build of the rally Pug after I have been to court in 12 days time. Then you can make your own mind up ;)
To get anywhere near 180bhp with a VTs you will need to get it on throttle bodies and a mappable ECU
most performance companies have to have claims behind them to sell their product or service, but to be successful they really need to have both.
tbh if i had to take my car anywhere for major work, it would only been GMC or Carworx, GMC being the closest to me and probs the best.
each to their own i supose, but i wouldnt go to lad, thats just my opinion. just from the bad press ive herd from many sites and peeps.
best to do some research before hand, may pay to travel ;)

gotta remember though his was completely stripped with cut slicks on the front, and he was saying to me they knocked about 0.3 off his times, his best today was 14.6 iirc??, i have also fucked on with my cam timing so who knows if its right :P
he's also using standard ecu. he was saying tehy tend not to change the cams on a vts, which i thought was strange????

i went up with him on the strip his time against me was 14.842 and the was at the end of the day

yeah, andy snailham ran that in his s2 rallye with 16v in on standard engine and tyres, stripped though.

I guess it will be a top secret cam, so they won't tell you and a sealed Citroen Sport ECU ;) lol
0.4 sec between cars - drivers reaction time????

Not sure what cams they were but they were changed for 708s and remapped ecu shortly after I bought the car

My reaction time was .789 on my best run. Apparently reaction time doesn't affect the final time though???
williamsvts

times from when you pull away, the bloke with teh LAD vts had cut slicks aswell.
0.5 is the quickest reaction you can get. as green is 0.5 after the amber, which is where they time it from.

Standard cams went on because it wouldn't pass emmissions test at last mot. It then ran too lean (I think) and kept cutting out so had top get a standard unlocked ecu. Never got round to putting cams/ecu back in since then! Will do eventually.

That would be one option, but to be fair I like to know if there's actually anything wrong with the car so a genuine MOT through girlfriemds work is the only way I'll do it!

my cousins vts has had work at lad motorsport..y the guy he bought it of..and he told my cousin it was 180bhp...and to be honest it feels no differnt to my vts...witch under the bonnet is rather standard! mines de-cated, induction kit and manifold! the only difernce i can feel is its been chipped witch takes the limiter higher!! other than that it feels the same
