yeah thats right mate some people say that for handling 60mm is too low but i dont think it is imo its just right i had a mate who vts was lowered 90mm n it felt sketchy on the road. 60mm is just right!:y:

heres mine, its lowered 60mm at the front and torsion bar to match..
i live up a hill with very large speedbumps.. and it doesent scrape goin over them. i am also able to have a few people in the car without it rubbin in the arches etc..
funny tho, as i have a pug 306 as well, and its only lowered 40mm with a laguna splitter on the front, and it scrapes like fcuk goin over speedbumps lol.
aww well.. :)
but yeah, defo go 60mm mate, looks lovely :)

ive been told by so many car garages that going lower than 40mm nackers the car, so many things go on it, i spoke to a lad that had gone through 4 gear boxes because his car was lowered so much, apparently it wears the driveshafts quicker too and its hard to get on the ramps etc! id do 40mm mate less hassle and better handling!

it will do but mine has been lowered for 3 years and had no problems, the PAS pipe will rub being low a mean they rub standard but wear quicker when lowered this is on mk2s though
when changing the suspension change the shocks and even powerflex bushes on
i wouldnt say lowering causes gearbox's to break, yes if there stupidly low and scrape on the floor or gets hit over bumps
as for ramps depends which ones, drive on ones are no problems and to get a jack under roll it on some blocks

So going down 60mm is about as low as u can go without things breaking, as a guy i kno had his sax down 110 at the back and 75 at the front, altho he never reported any probs apart from driveshaft wear. I love the look of 60 but dont want the hassle of replacing broken bits, also 40mm duznt do it for me still 2 high :(
Sorry for Thread Hijack

110 and 75 is just full on shit and stupid unless you have coilovers and i wouldnt be susprised if you get problems, if you hit a bump going fast you'll more than likely crash, id say 60 is the lowest you should go, looks brilliant though.

10th April 2007, 13:21
id say 60 is the most you want for looks mate :y: anything more is stupid

If your going down that low Id recommend changing the suspension bushes at the sametime. Its upto you if you want to uprate the bushes to poly bushes to give a firmer ride or just replace with standard bushes.
Also I wouldnt go down that low on standard shocks Id replace the shocks and springs with a full kit.
Quite a few kits go down 50mm-60mm so there's a choice in brands :y:
Id check around and look at speed bumps and ramps etc in your area and see if you could still get up and up and over with a drop of 60mm. Might also be worth removing your centre box in the exhaust system to aid clearance

everyone knows my views on saxos lowered 60, i refuse to get into an argument with anyone who has a car lowered 60 and believes there car sticks like glue to the road.

Mine's 60mm (approx.) i.e. definitely 60mm on the front and a little bit lower on the rear because it settled a bit more than anticipated and there's a 12" sub in the boot...

It handles fine. I hate bumps and pot holes but have got used to it.

has anybody had problems with the powersteering pipe when its been lowered
WelshSaxo
11th April 2007, 18:26
yes mine burst due to the pipe rubbin on the tracking arm, now this is not a problem as long as u remember to move the pipe clear of the track arm!
plus i think this only affects mk2's although i maybe wrong there!
Predator_R32
11th April 2007, 18:34
yes mate check it on mk2s at any height as it even wears down on standard ride height with it being lower it will wear a lot quicker
all you have to do is bend it a bit :y:

Not that I'm aware of. I "think" it was moved/sorted when I had the car lowered. Can't really remember.

Mines 60mm and its bumpy as fcuk, i cant do the speed limit on some crappy roads because its just torture for the car...its on standard rims and Spax adjustables....
I nearly too my arse off on a speed bump last week, the shit ones in the middle of the road, heard the rust on the manifold scatter all over the road....... not funny when your in the car and you think its oil and can just imagine your sump torn off......
I think 60mm is just on the limit, id go for 40mm or 50mm but 60mm involves a few sacrifices....

Is it quite flexable? Ive recently been lowered and I reckon I should take car of it soon rather than later, which side is it on? Drives, Passangers or the other side?
