hahaha Pulsar's are monsters, but everyone knows they will eat a scoob for breakfast too. so not really a wolf in sheeps clothing either tbh!

The Pulsar GTi-R looks like shit too, but in standard form, with 220bhp of Jap power under the bonnet in a car not much bigger than a Saxo, your bound to own the streets! Group 20 insurance though and hard to find a minter too!

mattchewone
10th April 2007, 22:50
Not worried about it not being a wolf in sheeps clothing just like the look of them, and the thought that its a turbo and will have the power when i put my foot down.

good luck finding a nice one though, if it hasn't been very well looked after in the past, then a Turbo'd car can be expensive, especially when things go wrong!

glanza v is the only one i would buy between the two models of the starlets as there much better looking.

133bhp on high boost and 115bhp on low bost. lots of people running over 220bhp starlets and my friend is building a starlet that hes looking in the region of over 300bhp. will post pics when finished but shouldnt he long i hope.

if you can afford one then do it as there cheap reliable cars. well worth the money imo :y:

My mate had a glanza-V,
theyre lovely cars, really nippy, we raced a vtr one day and ate it.
pretty cool with the hi and low turbo button..
dump valve, lower it, nice set of alloys and your sorted.
very pricy little cars tho, mate sold his for 5 and a half grand.
heres the pic,
lowered on Dare V4 17"s

Was talking to the bloke at the Jap import garage and he said in his opinion they are shit. Said it's really difficult to get a good one, he siad they are only little 1.3s but people drive them like they are skylines and they break. And as already said expensive to fix. Look like a nissan micra from the back aswell.

Although this kid round my way had like a 7 grand one and his was the sex, credit where its due it was the bollocks of a starlet!!!

Small Jap pocket rocket - they do them very well in Japan

Quite a big following too, not sure Id want to own one reckon the parts might be abit of a problem. Rather have a crapy eurobox than a japbox :y:

I really like them. I just got a quote on a starlet gt and i was pleasently surprised. Only £923 TPFT 18 with 1yncb. Not going to get one though, was just curious, im happy with the vtr atm,

Thats not bad at all :clapping:

Thats gota be cheaper than a S hasnt it? Im rite in thinking the S is a Group 15 or 16 for insurance, so what group is the Starlet GT?

Chris_Ward_vtr
12th April 2007, 13:03
Cheapest quote i got for my renewal on the R is £989 so its cheaper to insure one of them than my vtr. Considerin selling the vtr to my other half and getting one of these. Any one got any spec on these, i.e, 0-60, top speed etc.

starlet 0-60 is 6.9 i believe.

Ive driven one before and loved it. Turbo is awesome. Shame they are ugly really :panic:

Back in January I wanted to sell my car for a starlet. They are awesome cars. Plus I wanted a turbo and all the other turbo cars, were stupidly expensive to insure. The thing that put me off, is the fact that the parts are hard to come by unless you ship them over which can be expensive depending on what goes wrong.

Now I am waiting till I get my 2 years no claims *touches wood* and then get a VTS :)

starlets glanzas are group 8 insurance iirc

lol erm no they're not, it depends where you look, I've seen some places class them as group 14+

Also yea starlets are fun and fast though getting some of the spare parts for them is a right bitch!

theres a block round our way got 1 runnin 300bhp at the wheels and that goes like anythin mate absolutely tears scoobs skylines and evos apart its stupidly quick but it didnt cost him that much to do and they look the best in white was gonna buy 1 but ive made my mind up on a lupo gti now

Awretham
12th April 2007, 19:52
When you say it didn't cost him that much... what say near on 6k+? to run that bhp at the wheels you need to run 1.6bar+ which the stock internals will not handle! Maybe he's done it cheaply in which case I'd be interested to see how long it'll last...

Before you go bla bla bla you don't know shit, well I do, I've been involved a lot with these cars and have done a lot of work on them; one of my mates runs a 300bhp starlet and another is currently building what is set to be the uk's fastest starlet...

Vinny_VSX
13th April 2007, 09:15
I have only ever seen one Starlet T and it was chavved up. It actually really annoyed me, as I had only seen this car on the internet and when I actually spotted on in real life, it had Fox multi spoke alloys, a gay sunstrip, stupid middle exit exhaust and ugly lights.

Still I would have one.

How much would you have to pay to get a good one do you think? 5k?

13th April 2007, 16:21
I heard they were like Insurance group 7 on another forum i had a quick look at. Do you get a better quote ringing up, as most places online dont have the glanza model. Also i'm under my mums insurance and i hit a parked car a while ago i think she needed a new bumper or something and it was only £300 when i get my own insurance will that affect me??

You obviously dont open your eyes mate :p
I know of atleast 3 starlets in maidstone, one of them was my mates who has now sold it but the car is still in maidstone. Its a white GT with samurai graphics on it. My old GT is in sevenoaks too, have seen it a few times in maidstone.
Theres also a grey gt old style in maidstone, its got a body kit on it. Also know the bloke as i went to college with him :y:

13th April 2007, 18:23
I had a little drag race with 1 at stockport cruise, i was always about a car in front upto bout 60 then pulled away a bit, iirc the top speeds crap int it, speedo goes up to like 120, am not sayin a vts is faster but i beat this 1, im sure there are faster ones out there tho that would beat a vts.

Lol so wrong. 1. Insurance was cheaper on my gt than it is on the VTS. 2. When they are standard yes that can be a bit on the slow side, BUT only after 60. A gt with do a vts to 60 if both are standard. 3. They are soo easy to get more power out of them, 133 standard, one of my mates had a full exhaust system and an induction kit and was RR'd at 154 bhp. 4. You have to remember they are only a 1.3 so they do lack torque and mid range (but can be sorted by modding :y: )
And they are not ugly. :y:
