i dont know if this is normal or not? but i have just bought a 2000 model vtr n the temp gauge is showing just over half way n the fan always comes on, is this overheating or is this normal? what could posibly be causing this?

Mine does it all the time too, but not when on a motorway or anything. I think its pretty normal.

do you think its normal for the temp to rise jus above half way as normal then?

Its normal to rise just above halfway then the fan will kick in and drop it down a bit. They all should do it.

Thats nothing though, in traffic my car is fine, you start driving it hard and she goes upto 3/4's, but no more. :)

Aslong as it doesn't go into the red which is 100 degrees it will be fine, if it goes into the red being an alloy block it could warp the block..
