Im looking at getting a lower strut brace but was just wondering if anyone had any problems with them catching on speed bumps etc..

As at the moment im down 60mm front 80mm back and the cat seems to scrape every so often on the little high speed bumps. Ive saw some pics and it appears they hang lower than cat would be in which case i dont really see point in gettin one to just catch it on things n damage it. Just thought id double check :y:

mines 40mm all round and i have hit some speed bumps. its the worst sound you will ever here from a saxo apart from if you thrash it past the limiter in 1st.lol

i would either leave it how it is or get your car highed and then put it on. or put it on how your car is now but take it very steady

I am lowered 60mm on the front & fitted 1 of these, it used 2 hit manhole covers in the road. Sound is horrible, worst noise ever. So wouldn't recommend them.

I'm down 50mm mate and I have only caught it once when the car bottomed out on way to York Raceway, it took a massive gash out of it.

If you are down that, I'd leave it though as mine sits 2inch from the ground when sat on the level.

they are a good thing to have as they reinforce the chassis and reduce flex... but on your car I think it'd be too impractical as the brace would sit too low.

Raise it up another 15mm and then you'd probably be okay. Would also improve the suspension geometry and make the handling better even before you fit the brace

Mines catching on my manifold and making ridiulous noise, so im taking it off as soon as i get a spare 5 minutes.

Before I lowered mine Id catch my Piper manifold on very large speed bumps where as my Janspeed never used too.

But when I had mine lowered I had the lower brace fitted and yes I catch things on it and it does sound bad but better that than my Manifold :y:

Any lower than 40mm and handling perfomance isnt what your after so I wouldnt bother but if your after the best handling setup for the Sax go 30mm-40mm max and fit the lower brace.

Like mentioned to me' unless your running very good tyres, poly bushes and really pushing the car to its limits then braces are abit unneassary' but I personally feel anything no matter how small that improves the car over standard and increase my enjoyment of of the car is worth the money (to a point)

Also the higher spec your suspension is increases the need for chassis improvements as there are higher loads being transferred
