View Full Version : Bonnet wont open

Ive pulled the catch inside the car to realease the bonnet but when i pull the leaver under the bonnet to lift the bonnet up nothing happens and its jammed...
Anybody come across this problem before? and how did u get around it?
Its a mk2 bonnet

try get another person.you go inside and keep the lever pulled while someone pushes up and down on the bonnet just above your grill.if that doesnt work then its maybe your bonnet cable de-tached from the lever.if you look behind the lever and see if the cables loose.if so give the cable a tug.good luck

Tried the above, i presume the cables snapped,
any other ides as this hammer is gettin closer to going through the grill which i dont really want to do

When you pull the bonnet release in the passanger side, do you hear the bonnet pop at all?

i have also tried pushing the bonnet back down and it dosent lock

I had this problem with my 'S' reg Saxo. If you shine a light through the grill, you can see the mechanism. A longish screwdriver can be used to lever the sprung catch. It won't damage the paintwork either, providing a bit of care is taken.

i have same probs, cable snapped, you can use somethings long and thing to do it, and when it comes 2 closing it you need to move the mechanise so the catch goes straight in and closes it
