Changing standard Brake pads

Hi guys, just after some quick info if possible ;)

I need to change the front brake pads on a P Reg 1.1 Saxo. Had the wheel off and found that to change the pads, I need to either knock out 2 pins with a centre punch, or undo 2 (10mm) allen bolts to loosen the caliper.

So which is it, I'm guessing that its the pins (held in with clips?), but don't want to lay into them with a hammer without checking :A:

on my saxo i used an alen key to take the calipers off, cant see why you would need a hammer

I've had a quick google, and the only info I could find mentioned knocking out the 2 pins that hold the pads in place. I can see how taking out the 2 allen bolts might work as well, does a 10mm allen key fit?

according to haynes you need to knock the pins out with a hammer then remove the pad spring. should be able to slide the pads out then. may need to lever the piston back to get your new pads in tho

if youre levering the piston back get someone (or if you are good enough and quick enough) to keep an eye on the brake fluid reservoir or you'll end up pushing the piston in too far and making the reservoir overflow everywhere.

undoing the 2 alan key bolts is easiest, can do them in about 5 mins a wheel, if that, its what i did on my VTR and now on my VTS
