my mate has just recently set up his insurance with quinn direct, he is only 17 but on his certificate it says you may drive any other vehicle with the owners permission on third party, refer to terms and conditions. i am 17 to would i be able to drive any other vehicle?

Sounds a bit suspect to me. I have never heard of a company that let anybody under 25 drive another car with the owners permission.
This is to stop a 17 year old getting insured on a group 1 metro for cheap and then driving his/her daddies porsche for example. I would tell your mate to read the small print VERY carefully and phone his insurance company just to make sure.
I could be wrong but i have never heard of this.

if you have your own policy on fully comp, then you are legally allowed to drive anybody elses car as long as they are fully comp, and you have their permission. however, if you crash you will only be covered 3rd party. as far as im aware anyway.

I hear what your saying guys but if you read your small print then it will prob state you need to be 25 or over to qualift for this. Otherwise i would insure my furio and drive my dads beemer.

yeh mayb do have to be over 25 cos my dad dus it all the time, i think its also possible if the car is not insured at all. as long as the person behind the wheel has a fully comp policy, because my dad drove my car when we went to purchase it.

I've never been covered 3rd party for other cars due to my age (only 20), but with Bell I can pay about £30 extra to be covered 3rd party for other cars. So Quinn may do this, but as said above I'd read the small print very carefully before jumping into another car!

If thats what it says in your policy then its true.
When i was insured with Churchill at 17 i was full comp and they told me i wasnt covered. Then with Kwik-fit full comp i wasnt covered again.
Now with bell i paid £39.95 on top of my policy to lalow me to drive any car tpft.
