A brand new BMW 335i (New Traffic car) Its simply awesome RWD 300bhp, 300 ft. lbs. of torque

Its got a Twin Turbo'd engine so there is absolutely no lag evident.

They've also got a New Impreza STi and everyone has agreed without a doubt that the BMW is far superior in every way.

ahhh cool, got a family friend whos A.R, his fave out of the T5, beemer 530 and Omega are the Omega, he hates the beemer, but id imagine the new one is better.
Is it the same as the diesel, wheres theres a small turbo constantly spooling to eliminate lag why the big turbo is spooling up at higher revs?

Scott
27th April 2007, 09:00
335 d also rules in fact it might rule more than the petrol

This 335 is the petrol one. The Diesel isnt far behind though.

Yep its a smaller turbo eliminating the lag :)

The 335d is 286bhp (think petrol is 301).

I decided to take the tax hit and order one as a company car instead of the 330d. The performance is incredible.

I've never understood why people find it good that I can will spin its wheels in 3rd, 4th, 5th etc etc gear ?

I'd much rather have a car, where you can actaully use the engine to its full potential, and put the power down onto the road, and accelerate.

Spinning Wheels are for 1.1 Saxo owners in a Mac D's car park.

he wasnt bragging saying it does it all the time, im sure it puts the power down extremely well.... he was just using it as an indicator of its power

^ this is true.

hes just stating that by wheel spinning in 3rd shows the amount of power the car has.

edit too slow.

27th April 2007, 13:25
So if the wheels spinning up is an indicator of power, the Ka I part own must not have any power, as that doesn't spin its wheels, it just launches and grips ?

Strange theory, but each ot there own.

R4T
27th April 2007, 13:29
well if you dont agree with wheels spinning why are you trying to make the ka spin?

Where did I say I wanted the Ka to spin ?

FTW ka's dont have power pwned now shut up

Fair do i'll hold my hands up, 170 BHP isn't that much power on paper, but when the Ka is lighter than most things on the road, its enough power to make it move fast enough.

How many Saxo's on here will boast a better 0 - 60 and power to weight ratio than our Ka ?

And how is me posting my opinion, and then speaking about the different ways of looking at my opinion, being PWNED ?

Natty_BTTOS
27th April 2007, 13:52
stop bein such an arsy tw*t .... go watch the top fuel dragsters at santa pod light their wheels up and say they havent got power

Are you reading a different post to the one you quoted ?

I didn't mention anything about Drag cars, my only comment was the fact it makes me smile that people boast about a car being great because it breaks traction.

To me that makes a car badly designed.

i must part own,so how do you know it dosnt spin if you havnt tried?

Natty_BTTOS
27th April 2007, 13:55
so how do you know it dosnt spin if you havnt tried?

Why haven't I tried it ?

I haven't driven this version of the Ka, but the previous one, that first ran the RS Lump didn't spin, its just went.

minxymears
27th April 2007, 13:58
EVERY single high powered car WILL at some point spin its wheels, so every single car is badly designed is it? And as KAM stated earlier, optimum grip is reached at a slight spin and Willsy didnt say oh its great it wheel spins.... HE WAS USING IT AS AN INDICATOR OF THE POWER OF THE CAR

id be worried if had an RS lumped KA and it wouldnt spin up

Why ?

When you built an RS Turbo Ka, what spec did you build it to, and why did you struggle getting power down ?

I've never understood why people find it good that I can will spin its wheels in 3rd, 4th, 5th etc etc gear ?

See above for my post again, as it seems people have the idea to take it out of context, or twist the words for there own benefit.

My comment was a sweeping generalisation as to what I have seen in the modified car community, I haven't mentioned a person by name, or said this is gospel.

I made a comment on my own experiences, If free speech is frowned upon on here, and you should only post what every member agrees with, then its a poor state of affairs.

minxymears
27th April 2007, 14:10
But by saying what you said in this thread, one would rightly presume that it was directed at Willsy the creator of the thread and at what he said.
Well when the so called free speech is directed at a respected member of the forum in a manner that would seem like your having a dig, as a new member, then yeah that is frowned upon, we've had quite a few t*ssers coming on and making shirty, sarcastic comments trying to disrupt what id say is the best forum Ive been on.

27th April 2007, 14:15
But by saying what you said in this thread, one would rightly presume that it was directed at Willsy the creator of the thread and at what he said.

If you, or other forum users are paranoid then thats not my fault.

If someone posted on a topic i'd made, i'd probably be open minded enough to read there opinion, and question what was said, not jump in with abusive accusations.

we've had quite a few t*ssers coming on

This being an example, if I chose to I could assume your calling me a tosser, but I wont.

You don't know me, so In my opinion cannot make a valid point on me, or whether am a tosser.

I came on here as a few of your members I know personally, had told me what a good site this was, so far i'd say I'd been lied to.

The small minority i've encountered here are helping me make the judgement its a verry narrow midned childish site.

If your wanting to have a forum that is seen as clique run, and doesn't welcome new members you've gone about it perfectly.

Have you built, driven, or even seen a RS Turbo Converted Ka ?

If not how can you be so quick to judge ?

Would you like a rolling video of this car once its finished ?

Lots of grip, no overhang of substantial weight past the tyres, and the ability to drive make this car great for standing starts, and i'll prove it.

I thought i'd made a general non abusive post, to express a personnal opinion of mine.

Next thing I know i'm being accused of talking shit, or knowing nothing, and the so called more respected forum members are acting like spoilt kids.

The treatment of new members on this site is disgusting.

The only reason your ka does not spin up is due to how its being driven or the clutch is slipping. You know for a fact if you were to get you set the revs up at say 5k rpm and let the clutch out immediately then it would spin its wheels so lets get off this road now.

I also dont think willsy in this instance was trying to say that it made the car great/powerful etc etc etc etc merely stating a fact that if the TCS was off it would spin its wheels in 3rd.

But why would i sit at 5K RPM, then try set off?

Yes it would spin then, but in every day driving, a sudden increase in power will see the car accelerate as i'd hope, not BREAK traction and spin up through the gears.

The point am making, is if your driving a car, then whilst in motion want to increase the engine output, i'd want a car that transfers this to the road, not spin up.

I know exactly what your saying. Not at any point though did he say he thought this made the car great/powerful etc... you assumed that he meant that, it was a mere factual reference he was making that it spun up its wheels...

wow you've come here flying two feet first!
So you dont like chav kids in finance bought saxo's.....

it begs the question. Why are you here at all?
So a car can break traction in third, its just an indication of power vs traction and should be taken like water off a ducks back. For a FWD its pretty easy to wheelspin so if you can't its either got no power or not much combined with slicks or something. you don't put an RS lump into a rollerskate to pootle down the shops. Maybe when you have built the car you will find out how a high power fwd car really drives.

Sometimes you have to be polite and treat people with a little more respect to get some in return. you are not doing well so far so drop the agression and join the fun if thats your real intention.
