Might seem like a ridiculous suggestion...but why not buy one that's a little slower, but that you actually like?

rovers are the gayest of the gayest. would happily sacrifice a bit of speed if i meant i didnt have to drive a rover lol.

Don't forget you need a travel blanket to go on back shelf like see in most rovers

How long before the head gasket will need to be replaced as you sound like your obviously gonna rag the titties off it...

Rover 216Sli. Shit car!
And your reasoning for buying one is crap. I somewhat hope you write it off, and learn that speed, isn't, everything.

I've been in a 1.1 Saxo, and I was actually impressed, they aren't THAT slow.
(Obviously VT*'s kick them to pieces)

so your hoping i write it off and possibly kill myself?......thanks for that lol, brighten my day up,

Why does it have to be the fastest you can afford to insure? I've only had two cars but I've always gone for the best car I can afford to insure, buy and run. That means it's something I like. Speed isn't everything, it's better to enjoy the whole experience of your car not just have fast it goes

hmm h/g was done 200 miles ago, but dont forget replacing the h/g means skimming the head meaning 1 more gg, or so haha

It is possible to write off a car without any deaths you know! Shocking isnt it.

Bodvts
27th April 2007, 11:03
i had a 220 coupe wouldn't have another rover given changed oil seals 3 time head gasket once an think it had gone when i part ex'd it for saxo. 3 of mates have had rovers we all had 220's they didn't have coupe's all had problems with head gaskets

Dan

How old are you mate? Have you recently passed your test? If so then I dont think buying a car for speed is a sensible thing to do. Build experience up and get a better car then.

or a box of tissues.

I'd personally go for a smaller engines 106 or saxo .. they are full of character and dispite the lack of power are still fun to drive

saxodan
27th April 2007, 11:06
you want a 306

I rate it over the saxo

AdamW

I dont think its right some people saying they hope he writes it off.. some people even if they are new drivers want the fastest they can get, yer so what if they want a bit off power under there foot, this doesnt mean hes going to write it off .. if he does write it off he will learn, if you can get and want a faster car For the money you have, i say go for it, you'll enjoy the car a lot more than a 1.1i.. :homme:

I fink its harsh aswell everyone may want abit of speed in a car personally its not the main reason for me just looks and reliability, i thought my 1.1 was quite nippy really, but i recommend you get something more reliable like a japanese car, i was in a 1.1 and it was a write off coz someone went into the back of me and i was stationary so you dont have to be speeding to have your car written off!

KevVTR
27th April 2007, 18:00
Each to their own I say.

Wouldn't wish any one to write off their car.......... unless perhaps they were a chav!

But if you want it mate go for it. Mates' uncle had one for two years and loved it! ... till he put it through a dry stone wall and into a field. not tempting fate or anything.:)

how do you physically insure a car...

can u metaphoically insure a car aswell???

does sound as if ur gona rag it, i don't wish u 2 write it off but when u get ur fine & points for 80mph in a 30zone i hope u learn ur lesson.

as sed, the 1.1 is a fun lil car to drive -ecomonic to insure & run too, build up ur ncb like the rest of us & do the sensible thing by staying clear of the rover.

acceleration is great... i mean i went on my dads honda 1100 motorbike yesterday... he wasnt opening the throttle at all and the front wanted to come up, fastest thing ive been on. accelerates increadibly and will do 200mph. (we didnt do that mind)

I love speed etc, however thats why im going to view a 1.6 8v astra today, going to be slow as hell book says only 70 odd bhp... (car must weight a lot + apparently the engines are crap) but still cheapish to insure, looks modern, has most things you'l want, safe and quiet on the motorway... job done for me!

speed isnt everything, the rovers arnt 'that fast' really either ;).

i had a rover metro as my first car, it was utter shite! it had a 1.0litre engine, and was pretty heavy too! so when it came to hills it just gave in, unless u really built up the revs and went up in 1st gear! and it didnt help it been my first car just after passing my test lol. dunno what other rovers are like, i would've thought they were reliable, but sayin that, i dont know anyone who as a rover! i would save up for something better

Danr
28th April 2007, 12:33
My mate had one of them, the engine fell out lol. You can't really use speed on public roads due to traffic, condition of the road and the fact its illegal.

Ashsax
28th April 2007, 12:43
yeh, i was just thinkin that, where the hell are u gonna drive fast safely? I think u should go for a car with acceleration, cos i think thats a good rush to get.

Was funny, i wasn't there at the time but supposedly he pulled away, an engine mount broke, engine dropped. Then he couldn't pull away so had to be towed.

Great picture of it being dragged off down the road lol :)
