Looking to lower my VTS by 45mm all round. want to do it myself as i get more satisfactino knowing ive done it myself than paying a garage a fortune.

spring clamps i know i will need, anything else? i have axle stands, and the necessary tools (spanner, ratchets and sockets).

Anyone recommend anything? would i need to replace dampers as well as the springs, all round. Im not lowering the torsion bar, as im looking at getting them spring'd up too.

any help is of great value

I have seen these on kam-racing.co.uk and wondered what and if they are worth getting:

Also, whats this i see on some websites about a modified track rod, will this need to be changed if lowered by 45mm?

the torsion bar still needs lowering mate. as the bar acts as the springs

yep, the idea of the torsion bar, is that the dampers move in and out, this twists both torsion bars and acts like a spring.

in a full suspension kit, you will get the front shocks and springs and the rear shocks, 4 shocks and 2 springs.

the fronts are simple to do, just make sure you get a decent ball joint splitter and make sure you dont spilt the rubbers ;) also get some new bolts and nuts that hold the bottom wishbone joint in.

you will need spring, clamps, a decent set of spaners, a decent set of sockets with a ratchet and or bracker bar, a torque wrench, ball joint splitter, hammer ;), jack and axle stands, also a tape measure if you want to do the rear to ;)

little tip, spray the bolts that hold the bottom wishbone joint to the strut with wd40 and hour or so before you start ;)

the rear isnt to hard to do, but if you dont feel confident i what you are doing, i wouldnt attempt it ;)

its up to you mate tbh, some peeps just fit springs onto standard shocks.

the thing to watch out for is that uprated springs are normally shorter than standard and can move when in stadard shocks once the weight of the car is off them, ie when jack up, or the cars is air born lol.
aftermarket shocks are normally uprated and shortend to go with the springs ;)

The Bilstein Sprintline kit for the Saxo includes Group N shortened inserts. Very nice bit of kit.
You would need to lower the rear beam as the front will drop by around 45mm
