My timing belt is needed to be done (61k) and was wondering when doing it, should you replace the idler and tensioner as well or can you just change the belt? Is it a case of why it is gettting you might as well change it but for £65 sheets... is it needed???
Cheers for the help.

Its more a case of if it needs it, when changing the belt thats when you check them for any excessive play in the bearing. The idler is usualy fine (but still needs to be checked) but its peice of mind at the end of the day. My last car i changed the lot, the bill came to 205 quid just for parts :y:

like dan said its normally changed for peice of mind however inspect them and check for play or roughness in the rotation bearings and if in any doubt about the condition then change them. citroen change the idler and tensionor on every cam belt service, i never changed mine and its been fine.
if you havent changed the timing belt on the 16v before then my guide on the following link will explain how to: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65315

Cheers mate, I have already had a little butchers at that and it is very good, although like a lot of people not too sure if I would have the balls to give that a go. I give a lot of things a go but this I might have to skip lol.
I am probably going to get a garage to do it so I will not be able to inspect it and would get the parts before hand and give them to the garage, that is the main reason why I was wondering on whether to get those two parts or not!!!
