Well, i just got back from the garage.
I originally took it in to get a new bulb for my tail light, and to check the brakes. turned out, i needed both the front brakes changing, and the tube connecting to the rear brake was leaking, so that needed replacing. i also found out that the engine was mis-firing (which i really should have noticed), but they couldnt find out why, so i have to get a service booked.
so far ive spent £200, alone on the brakes. i'm really hoping it doesnt cost much more! does anyone know whats most likely to cause a mis-fire?

Lol, mine is currently up on axel stands. I'm in the process of taking the gearbox out, as the planet gear in the gearbox diff is knackered. That is gonna get refurbed for 200 quid. Also puttin a new clutch in, maybe new brakes. In the last 2 weeks, the back box has had to be replaced, brakes adjusted, and the throttle control sensor replaced. And there is still a new cat to arrange!

And just to add, the gearbox removal, refurb and refit quote i got from the garage was 700 quid!! I shopped around for a good price, and found a place that will refurb it for 155 quid. Removing and refitting myself!!

lol, i reckon no one should go to garages, and just learn to do it! that way, garages will have to lower the extortionate prices! ur car should be ok tho after all that, i would have thought!

£200 does seem excessive for brakes. Is that discs and pads im assuming. Such an easy job to do yourself and save getting shafted by garage labour charges. Takes them an hour and two mins and they charge you for 2 hours labour.
There are quite a few easy bits than can be done on the car yourself and will save you quite a lot of money. Buy a haynes manual which explains things step by step or even loook around on the net cause there are guides everywhere.

Oh and i need to service my car too, new driveshaft gaiter and rocker cover gaiter. While i remember, does anyone know if you can get from citroen, the plug/screw type things that hold the wheel arch liner in place??
