my car seems to jerk and jump badly on light throttle, mainly driving in traffic, the car is due a clutch soon as its more or less right out before it starts to bite.. could this be causing the problem?

Yes it could cause the car to do that. If I were you when they are doing clutch I would get flywheel scimed. This should only cost about £20 to get done but gives the new clutch a flat surface to mate to.

could be one of the gear box mount, i've just changed my box and it's started to do it when i'm in traffic.

Mine does the same every now and then. It went into Citroen for another issue and they did find there was a slight problem with the throttle release sensor, which they cleared. It made some difference but it is still there.
Mine does it quite badly when the car is cold, not quite so much at running temperature. I've just put it down to the cylinderhead I'm using, as they don't flow well at low RPM. Since other people have been mentioning this, I guess I was wrong. Hmm... Anyone on this thread running any kind of engine tuning? I'm sure mine did it in 1st gear a lot before I did any tuning to my engine.
Does anyone here find changing from 1st to 2nd at low'ish rpm, quite tough to make perfectly smooth? I almost feel a small CLANK as I release the clutch pedal to engage... Any thoughts?

My Saxo used to do this and it was down to the Lamda sensor on the down pipe, try taking it out and giving it a good clean.
