my 2002 vts is booked in at shitroen to check what's wrong with the airbag system ("no dialogue with ecu during initialisation" was the report from the auto-electricians engine diagnostic test)
before i take it in can you confirm a list of standard checks before i go?
i'm talking basics here, like "is the airbag ecu even there?" cos i guess it might not be if one of the previous owners removed it - so what do i check for and where is it located?
i've already checked that the plugs under the seats are secure, but should i check closer, like the actual connection inside?
cheers for any help you might be able to give me!

if you havent got a standard steering wheel then you will not have an airbag. if you have tho - try removing the plugs under your seats and clean the contacts as the airbag light flashing is a common fault for saxos!

just try and clean the contacts with sand paper or summit.
this may help you if you havent already seen it:

thanks, i will try that......but the "no dialogue with ecu during initialisation" message appears to mean that the airbag ecu isn't even talking - these seem to be cheap enough to buy on ebay - maybe worth shelling out for one and swapping it ?

if they are cheap then you could buy one (if you tried checking the contacts)- just make sure it is fitted by a profeesional tho!!!!

all I know is the air bag light is connected to the seat pretensioners. So if the blocks under the seats are playing up (99% of the time) it could bring up the same fault code. If your airbag light is on, go under your seat chop off the brown blocks underneath, then connect each of the 2 pairs of wires with new connectors, using a crimping tool:y:
