just found out that the 48,000ton rig im working on holds 350tons of fuel to power it, they need to burn all of the fuel off to do a certain job. instead of pumping it out, they have decided to burn it off.
the turbine that powers the rig burns 3tons of fuel an hour on tick over and 8tons an hour on full belt!!
1 ton of fuel is 1000litres lmbo

thats got to hurt someones pocket lmbo

but from that they get millions of dollars of oil and hour ;) lol

they are more efficient at full power than they are at idle.
they are only really used on start up, once they start drilling for oil, they switch off and run off the gas compression from the oil well ;) they they are just there for back up lol

i couldnt believe it when the guy told me, i thourght he was taking the p*ss until he showed me the print outs. lol
