Think currys have the usual Bank Holiday deals, E-Buyer (not E-Bay) is a good place for cheap Acer Laptops for around your budget, make sure it has the new Vista not the older Windows matey ;)

be careful. My mum bought a new laptop for £379 from currys, she only uses it for surfing the net and the odd bit of typing.

It came pre-loaded with vista, and it was so slow it was laughable.. took 2 mins to open up IE...

Put XP Pro on it now, and it flies. It's a Celeron 1.3 GHZ, with 512mb RAM... YES, i know its well underspecced for vista, but why do they install it when it blatently won't run.

Just a warning :)

go pc world website, click refurbed laptops, i bought a MINT SPEC ONE

1.8 intel core duo so farrrr superior to all these intel4 3ghz n what not
1gig ram
160gig hd
dvd re writer
graphics card
1 year warrant
NEVER BEEN USED!!
allfor 360 beat that!!

played fm07 in lightninnnnn speed

refurbed ones from pc world, currys, commet are the way to go if u find a good spec one with a new processor like a core duo(only just older than core2) but alotttt better thaneverything else bar core 2

and the refurbed doesnt mean old faulty old returned it justmeans the laptops they never sold and i confirmed this so ur gettin a brand new laptop, makes senes... do it

Work on Macs, why pay over the odds when I wont use half the features?

Better of buying a mac mini.. plus most of the networking stuff I do wil not be copatible etc etc

I know a thing or two about pcs, wouldent buy anthing without 1gb or Ram and its not all about the processor, things like fsb and leve 3 cache are importannt

just wanting to know the best time of year for cheap prices

Usually at about 8am - 9am is the best time...

Mac for laptop imo and just put XP on it as a second OS. And 800 quid for the one with the decent CPU but smaller HDD Mid range one.

January is best time.
