Fuel Pressure??

To add on to my previous post on the 31st July regarding stalling, i filled my car up last night and its running as sweet as a nut! I had the bonnet open most of Sunday trying to figure out why she is feeling ill.
Much to my horror I found out that my fuel line that feeds the fuel rail was leaking fuel! I found this out by just touching things under the bonnet. When I touched it, a fine jet shot out from around the rubber pipe and the plastic clip, then it seemed to ease off and just gently foarm a puddle around the joint.
Could this be causing my engine to stall? Is this pressure related?
And replys wopuld be gratefully recieved.

if there is a leak then yes, because on full trottle you get 3.5 bar off feul pres. so it will leak even more and your engine will get not enough feul to work right


but dont you have a strong petrol smell in the car then smileys/smiley5.gif

there is a slight oily/petroly smell when i first enter the car, but it soon goes. i have checked the fuel pump, and the smell isnt coming from there.

have you replaced the pipe yet?!? and if thats not the main problem its going to be a huge factor

havent replaced the pipe yet as i only found the leak the weekend. where would be the best place to get a replacement from?

if its just ordnary fule hose then take it off take it with you to halfords or your local car parts place and match it up for diameter and length and your done

would this explain why with only a full or nearly full tank it is fine?

The fuel pressure is regulated on the output from the fuel rail... if your fuel leak is after the fuel pressure reg' then this probably is not contributing to your problems with stalling.

Exactly which pipe is leaking? Is it split, or does the connector at the end leak?

The pipes are not normal rubbe rfuel hose, they are ptfe lined nylon hoses... I re-jointed mine with stainless steel braided PTFE lined hoses... but its gotta be done properly!

The pipe that is leaking is the fuel line that runs into the fuel rail. It is leaking from where the taper of the connector enters the pipe. Might just need a new hose clip or just replace the whole lot.
